I played around with the 7700X in the cart yesterday instead, and it's price was an even more scorching $92. I almost pulled the trigger but the MB prices were just too high so I figured I'd wait. I didn't have to wait long as this morning they dropped the ASRock by $30 so I got the following...
After getting past the hardware verification, I then logged into the Steam store as him and activated the code. His store account does show his library of games (that I could tell), but he said he could see it in his library in the Steam app. It's a big game so he has to clear some space...
The check is tied to the CPU; you have to download a tool that confirms the system has the cpu purchased. If that fails, you don't get the activation code. I assume they're doing this to try and prevent people from selling the game.
I got the Unchartered credit for my 5800X that I upgraded to, and would like to give it to my son since I'm not a gamer and he is. He can't activate it since his PC has a 3600X in it, so I was wondering if there's a way to work around the system check when trying to activate it? i.e. can he...
I got one and plopped it into my system, but was hitting the 90 degree thermal limit when encoding via Handbrake. Was getting 4-4.1ghz speeds. The Wraith Spire was good enough for my 2700X so I kept it because it looked good in the case, but had to switch it out for a Peerless Assassin on the...
Usual in-store only disclaimer since it's Microcenter.

If Rocket Lake can ease the demand for AMD CPU's, I'm all for it. With AMD's supply constraints while in the lead CPU position, the pricing ends up just as painful as when Intel was in the driver's seat.

I have Win10 set to 1920x1080, but in the Radeon software it says the display is 3840x2160, so it appears to be sending a 4K signal at 1080P resolution to the projector which works because the projector can take a 4K signal. But when I insert the Darbee which can't take the 4K, I get...
I have an RX570 in my HTPC and it sees my projector as 3840x2160 which does work. However, my projector isn't true 4K, but a "pixel shifter" that can take a 4K image. The problem is I have a DarbeeVision DVP-5000S device which won't work with a 4K input, so I'm trying to force the RX570 to...
Oh I know, they're inept. I am just extrapolating and predicting the Anandtech future - you know who around here are going to quote TPU as gospel now...
Remember when Zen2 was released and AnandTech showed AMD beating Intel but everyone else saying close-but-no-cigar? The pro-AMD crowd relied heavily on Anand's results until he changed them. Now the pro-Intel crowd will rely heavily on the TPU results. It's how it's done around here.
I remember the same thing with Kaby lake, and guess what? Most needed a new motherboard. I'm not incorrect yet, since it hasn't happened. I may end up being incorrect but you're a fool if you think an Intel upgrade won't require a new motherboard. That's very rare for Intel, but this may be...
Who knows what those crazy Germans were thinking, or what their pricing was compared to ours. I do know your statement isn't a fact, but rather a guess.
Remember when Zen2 was +-5% Intel in gaming? No Intel owner worth his salt would deign to lower themselves and say they were roughly equal. Ahh, this is a beautiful thing to behold.
You don't think that will require a new mobo? That would be very un-Intel-like if so.....
The real crux is...
Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't Intel done their rewrite and it's pretty good, it's just their fab that is a cluster, as they aren't getting the clocks like they have been?
Zen1 was launched 10 years ago? Who knew? Cuz when Zen first came out, that's the *beginning* of when Intel no longer could abuse their market power. They tried hard even after, thanks to diehards like you/Elf/Zuck, but most were smarter than that.
If they could have done it and gotten it stable in time for this launch but didn't include, my guess would be they're saving it for part of the refresh performance gains for this line next year.
The S20 FE has wireless charging and is IP68. Updates are promised for 3 years - more than long enough. I agree with mnewsham - $700 for the Pixel 5 isn't worth it.
There are external front USB 3.0 connectors you can get. They go in the place of the floppy drive or CD slots in the front . I used this on an old case I love and it works great...
This is the big point. As well as Intel's partnering with various PC builders. Both of those don't change quickly or easily, especially when you "sell at the top". It's not like consumer behavior which can change far faster.
Intel doesn't have to be the best to maintain the datacenter income...
