HAHA, well I am a dumbass. Since Teamviewer has cracked down on users like us, I had set up remote desktop during the sprint. Well that's what did it, or should I say that's what happens. Maybe its been posted before and I missed it. When using RDP, the remotes GPU automatically shuts down...

Yeah, I have the AMD clean up utility and one for nvidia. Effing crazy. GPU's were all fine for the Pent and MW and Einstein sprints in June/July, that was the last time I had them fired up. During the Universe sprint the Win10update appeared that I am sure is the cause of this.

Did I miss something?

After the sprint this past weekend I was planning on running some GPU projects, Milkyway and Einstein. But now for some reason I get GPU missing on all systems except my RTX 2080. I did see that Win 10 auto turned my hardware install back on after this last update. I went and downloaded...

Looking at cases for a new build

MagicEye from the Shoutbox asked the admin about it in Einstein's forum. Dorren chimmed in that the FGRPB1G work generator may not turn back on until the 400K pending tasks amount comes down. Currently Server status says 0 to send. https://einsteinathome.org/server_status.php

I'll miss Intellicast. My brother works for the NWS and he told me about this site 10yrs ago. Its a great free site for weather. https://weather.cod.edu/ I am still a WeatherTap fan for paid services, but its been years since I was a member there.

One thing for sure, these Genfer21 tasks bog the system down. I have no cpu tasks running on the 12/24 Xeon and just surfing around the net lags bad. I can usually stream some TV with Enigma, MW and other projects.

The 2080 takes 7-8hrs approx. from my weekend tests. Tahiti chips 14-18hrs.

What is the recommended anti-virus for Windows 10?

I have been happy with Eset's suite across my devices for about 5 years now. I keep Malwarebytes and Emisofts free scanners on board for cross checking on demand.

980 just died :( 2080 or 2070? (I need to get it today)

I grabbed a 2080 FE from best buy for $629 with coupon and rewards to replace my 2 GTX 980's. After not upgrading to the 10 series earlier I figured I would just skip it and go for the 20 series since I only upgrade every 4-5 years. Not that I really had to, the 980's were fine on everything...

Daughter is 23 and RN and never gamed. My son 21, plays on Xbox, he did start out PUBG on PC, but since the console release, hasn't come back. When he was 12 or so we played COD and some race games together,but he is way too good for me. I prefer the longer story based games.

Now that I am 45 and the kids are out on there own I have started playing again. I usually buy gpu's for distributed computing, but I recently got a RTX 2080, up from 2GTX980's and bought Wolfenstein 2 and Middle Earth: Shadow of War. I still have Doom I have been working through for a few...
