Agreed. But how can Diamond Rapids be the "big breakthrough" then? It has the exact same problem that you pointed out for GNR. LNC cores are okay against Turin. But they will NOT be okay against Venice. So in my opinion Diamond Rapids is dead already if it has LNC cores.
This has nothing to with my text. The 17 percent are NOT taken out of a fake leak. He said, an AMD employee communicated to him in april, that AMD says to partners that they should expect around 17% IPC increase.
Edit: Guess you are right @Kepler_L2
Soooooo, according to mlid AMD is disclosing a 17% IPC uplift to partners. He says the source is an AMD employee. How does that fit the optimistic 40% stuff in this thread. @adroc_thurston Can you dismiss the 17% or what is happening. Someone has to be wrong here...and I tend to think an AMD...
Zen 5 and Zen 4 will be clocked almost the same so you will not see the big clockboost like from Zen 3 to Zen 4. So IPC and performance will be kinda close with Zen 5. Cause more performance is caused by more ipc and more clocks...
So, what is our consensus as far as Arrow Lakes competitiveness is concerned? Zen 5 seems to be a really nice chip and many people believe, that there will be a rather huge performance bump. Will it be enough to clearly defeat Arrow Lake or will it be a close fight. I tend towards a close fight...
If their epyc chips are 40% faster then that should translate nicely to their Ryzen chips...40% faster Epycs and 20% faster Ryzens would not mske sense.
Sure, but if AMD was better core to core with their 128 core product, which likely will not even clock as high as their 96 core product then their 8 core product will be even stronger compared to a different 8 core product. So the 40% should be the MINIMUM especially in the desktop market.
According to MLID Zen 5 will arrive late because of Mainboard issues. He says that the announcement will probably be around computex with availability later...does not sound good to me. I thought april was kinda save...
Ooooooor here is a crazy idea. You can actually use this awesome opportunity to really proof, that you know the performance by posting the "crazy" numbers that noone is going to believe anyway. And if your numbers turn out to be true you have proofen that you are a credible source.
I actually...
Wow, that has to be one of the stupidest takes I have ever seen. So you basically want Zen 5 to be 10 times faster or so, otherwise it's garbage? Ok...
That would add a lot of costs and would decrease flexibility as well...for maybe a little bit more performance. Not wise at all, AMD will never do that.
I guess the new Infinity Fabric will play a major role in Zen5's IPC-increase. Does anyone have any clue, what we can expect from the new fabric? I have not found any information online so far. Do we maybe have some patents or anything that may point to the possible enhancements?
Can you give us a tiny hint what you are so excited about Uzzi? :) Like is it about the configuration of the CPU or the IPC or efficiency or release date or what? :)
