Fully aware of the meaning and I meant it in the context used. IE, "asking this question ends any chance I have of getting this job."
See the sig? I do get paid to use words. I cn rite gd n stuff. :D:p
Obviously the primary goal of working is to earn a living, but all too often I see comments from recruiters as though asking about pay and benefits prior to an interview is crossing the Rubicon.
I currently have a pretty good job, it seems pretty obvious that I'd rather not waste my time with...
1) Neither is an 850 EVO, but it's good enough for my use case
2) Don't need them
3) 160W PicoPSU. Been running a Z97/4130T Hackintosh in that StreaCom case for a while now.
Yeah, but the $120 you paid for a 120GB SSD is easily eclipsed by the $89 500Gb WD Black NVME drive I'm going to put in mine ...
Same case as your build. I'm using a more reasonably priced power supply, got a Gigabyte Z370N Wifi board for $130, paid $89 for 16GB of DDR4 ...
Success!
The PowerEdge T30, it turns out, has three cables attached to the motherboard that the system monitors. The front panel intrusion switch can be disabled in the BIOS, so that eliminates the need for one of the three. The other two are a combo power button / LED cable and the USB / audio...
I still remember trying to "fix" a computer with a "ready for Vista" badge that came with 1GB of RAM.
Customer could not understand why I was recommending they upgrade their brand new PC.
ZOMG, this is actually WORSE than I figured it would be when I saw Wally World had gotten more fully into the computer business ...

I'm moving my Dell server from the small micro-ATX case it came with into a full tower so as to be able to expand the number of drives.
I've got a power supply adapter cable to go from 24-pin to 8-pin, so that's taken care of.
Dell's front panel header is a strange proprietary format, though...
I wondered if the router was maybe 100Mb Ethernet only, but it says the ports are Gigabit. I did a factory reset on it and I'm getting identical speeds now. Weird. On the bright side, I just saved a couple hundred bucks. :D
The storage is what burns me the most.
I've already got a Streacom case and power supply. Here's my planned upgrade:

Add another $30 for the BroadCom BT/WiFi and you're at ~700ish.
By comparison, if I got an identically spec'ed Mac Mini, it's $1499. I...
Been here since before the Great Reset of '99, young fella. Back in my day, there was even a notable feud between one of AT's original members and Tom himself. And memory came in SIMMs and I walked to work barefoot in the snow!
Is anyone following the crazy fallout over their editorial rave on the RTX cards? The guy running their German affiliate site was banned from the US forums for calling it out, heh.
This is pretty funny, too, and lays out the origin of the argument:
OMG, yes. :tearsofjoy:
The conversations usually go like this:
MrsX: "XMan, what is up with <blank>?"
"Oh, that's this whole meme thing started by ..."
MrsX: (sighs and rolls eyes) "God, people are weird."
MrsX has no patience for shenanigans or tomfoolery.
There are a couple new ones showing up on the 'zon but the reviews are decidedly mediocre.

It sure would be nice to be able to upgrade SSDs without doing the hokey pokey, or spending a bajillion bucks for a...
Linus Tech Tips actually did a video on it with mixed results. Seems like StoreMi benefits from larger SSDs.

I'm surprised there aren't more options out there, you'd think this sort of design would be a no-brainer.
Though I guess if I wore a lanyard every day, still, I'd just use that. ;)
