Because RPL-U 282 is just that cheap. Why would it be expensive?
I was referencing MTL.Because RPL-U 282 is just that cheap.
Horribly expensive versus comparable RPL parts.I was referencing MTL
Don't be naive. The silicon costs for all of these client CPUs is immaterial.
So what did you say again? I did not pay attention and i dont feel like reading 10+ pages in order to find specific post.Never said that.
Doesn't look like it.Is there more cores coming with Zen 6?
Why would you need that many Zen6 cores? At least 24, if not 32?
Dense is for poverty segments where every mm^2 of area matters.if you did not say some of them are dense
AMD hasn't done 8Q on CPUs for a while and nT is whatever.Lots of people just assume 24 months, which is Z5 in Q3 '24 and Z6 in Q3 '26, but if its well before that it doesn't have to mean Intel will blow out AMD in the MT game.
Speaking only for myself and a minority of others, some of us need a LOT of cores, and fast ones, but not as much PCIE lanes and other functionality of TR or EPYC, and we don't want to pay for it. There is a market, not sure the total size. Why would you need that many Zen6 cores?
Sounds super-tiny.There is a market, not sure the total size.
People assume that because of covid. AMD's cadence was much tighter before the dreaded pandemic.16c on Z5 and Z6 isn't that bad if we're looking at an accelerated time table. In addition to the DC crowd, you have those that want to use it like a workstation, but don't want to spend the money on TR. I think you would be surprised at how many really want 24-32 cores.Sounds super-tiny.
Once again, AMD focus is on single-thread performance and efficiency in client.
That's nice but will hardly work off 2ch memory.I think you would be surprised at how many really want 24-32 cores.
yep yep mark paper master mentioned more cores would need more bandwidth something 2 ch ddr5 doesn't bring to the table. That's nice but will hardly work off 2ch memory.
Pointless excercise when you could just focus on 1t and efficiency.
I want 24-32 cores, but only for a server application. If the IPC gains are as rumored, I think I'd be quite satisfied with 16 on a desktop platform. If I needed a lot more, might as well get EPYC.In addition to the DC crowd, you have those that want to use it like a workstation, but don't want to spend the money on TR. they sell 16 core epycs no?I want 24-32 cores, but only for a server application. If the IPC gains are as rumored, I think I'd be quite satisfied with 16 on a desktop platform. If I needed a lot more, might as well get EPYC.
They sell 8,16,24,48,64,96 core right now. And I may have missed a couple.they sell 16 core epycs no?
112 and 128.They sell 8,16,24,48,64,96 core right now. And I may have missed a couple.
Thanks.Doesn't look like it.

I think this is too much of a stretch even for a cheesy sales pitch. If your corporate manager has a bunch of CAD guys making $60-80k/year and can leap productivity enough to cut 10%+ of the positions, you just justified the price point. Its all about bang for the buck, not necessarilly cost per unit.
Certainly not those being paid the higher wages. No one is sitting around spending 10% of their time looking at a computer hourglass.
Supposedly Renderman XPU uses hybrid compute of CPU and GPU?Currently doing stuff with Octane render, which is GPU renderer, so i got this year 2x 4090s. But moving to something potentially CPU based is always an option - i could use those cores then.
Possible reason if the rumor is true: https://www.hardwaretimes.com/intel...able-units-why-hyper-threading-is-going-away/Why would Intel dump HT?
No.Will there be updated chipsets for Z5?
PROM21 will have a long life yes.Or will they stick with current chipset until Z6, or not even update for that?
