Old motherboards still doing you proud :)

I have a number of old rigs still running, the oldest utilizes a DFI K6BV3+/66. Also an ASUS A7N8X and A7N8X Deluxe R2, MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum and a DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR.

Hmmm,... still running one of those too. Though mine is only a 2.5GB, it is a 3.5". Suppose you're gonna pick on the Conner cfs425a 425MB or it's other running mate WD Caviar 2540 a 540MB HDD. And the OC'd K6-2/500 that's in charge of 'em :) This rig won't die either, been OC'd and running...

Still using mine, although it is no longer my main rig. Got 5 bulged and leaking caps,... been that way for at least 2 years that I know of but it just won't die :)

Is it Bad to Crank Up the Contrast for an LCD Monitor?

breaking 2.6 on opteron 175

Dunno,...DFI's are a piece of cake,.... you just need to do a little research is all. And a good forum like DFI Street/DIY Street is very helpful. Maybe there is a good dedicated forum for your Abit out there somewhere.

AMD Opteron 170 overclocking

I think what myocardia meant by undervolting is you are at 1.30V, the stock vcore is 1.35 not 1.48 or higher. My Opteron does it's best at 1.38V - 1.41V. Have you tried something between 1.30 and 1.48 ?

AMD Opteron 170 overclocking

My 170 is a CCBBE 0615EPMW, it'll do 3.0 with 1.472V. screen shot - http://www.xmission.com/~nova/hb/dtdfi.jpg I've since backed it down to 2.93 and 1.40V, runs much cooler and the extra .07 really didn't make that much of a difference.

Please Recommend me a Stable Motherboard (no budget)

Some of the DFI's had a problem a while back when using all four slots (would not boot, would not see all sticks, etc). Also had to run at T2,.... dunno, maybe they have straightened out now?

AMD Athlon XP 3000+

Just fine,... my K6-2/500 is good also,.... I guess it just boils down to what you are doing. If you want to run the latest and greatest games it may just be fair, if you do word processing and internet it's more than good.

swapping an A64 for an Opteron 170

Well,...because the 3000+ has a 9X multiplier and the 170 is a 10X. I agree it should not be a problem but (ya never know), I'd still go with the defaults, ensure things are stable, then start the OC.

I'd suggest you go into you BIOS and return everything to the default settings before installing the Opteron,.... but, thats just me ;)

Socket 939 CPU upgrade. Which one

I go Opteron 170 again. If you don't OC the FX-60 mentioned above looks like a pretty good deal.
