You want a DVI-D to go from the video card to your monitors DVI connector. Dual link I believe is only is only required for very high resolutions. A DVI-I cable will most times plug into the video card but not the monitor. A DVI-I male will not plug into a DVI-D female connector.

That is really weird, its usually the other way around. Usually you can't get into the BIOS with a USB keyboard and mouse (legacy support disabled) but you can get into the OS OK. The fix in that case is to reset the BIOS to defaults. I wouldn't think it would make any difference in this case...
