Calling on AnandTech gurus... Is the Hardcano Safe?

Most people insert the thermistor between the heatsink and the PCB around the CPU die. The raised central CPU die is like a small plateau on the chip, and with the heatsink installed leaves enough of an air gap to run the thermistor in all the way to rest against the side of the die itself...

Thermalright AX-7 vs SK-6...

I am using an AX7 on a KG7 board, no clearance issues at all (the heatsink steps up from the base, and clears the capacitors)

HOLY CRAP!! Alpha ROCKS!!!

Goi, a lot of the manufacturers do not list the extreme high output fans. The Sunon 50 cfm fan has the model number KD1208PTBX-6A. The Delta is FFB0812SHE for the 68 cfm version. The Tornado is actually Sunon model number PMD1208PMB1-A, at 84.1 cfm.

Actually the Sunon seems pretty quiet, even comparing it in side by side ear-o-meter tests with the lower speed Sunons and upper range Panaflos. I prefer the mid-speed 39cfm ones myself, but with an internally mounted heatsink fan, you'd have a hard time telling the difference in blind testing...

Does a top blowhole help cooling all that much?

If you have a good fan layout, with the fans high on the back, then likely a top blowhole won't make any discernable improvement. It helps with poorly designed cases, or in situations where there are so many drives/cables/etc in the case interior that heat can't exhaust quick enough through the...

What's the best P4 2.53ghz CPU HeatSink/Cooler?

Actually the retail heatsinks on the PIVs aren't too bad, outperforming a lot of the aftermarket stuff. To get any better you would have to step up to an Alpha 8942 or a Swiftech, neither of which are very cheap.

Fits on it fine... but make sure your motherboard has room on it.

Crazy idea.... 2 fans for one CPU heatsink. What do you think???

Thing is, with one fan on each side, one pushing and one drawing air, you aren't doubling the airflow. You may slightly increase it by lessening the pressure inside the fin area, but in reality if your pusher fan moves 30cfm (number used just for reference), and your puller moves 30cfm, you...

Just got my Volcano 7+!

Actually the 7+ is about the best heatsink I have seen yet from Thermaltake. It is also one massive chunk of copper... so priced by the pound its a darn good value... :)

Are there Noise issues with side panel fan????

The side fan attaches via 4 bolts/nuts. The filter mounts using the same bolts, basically each bolt coes through the filter, then the case metal, then the fan hub.

Need a heatsink for a Celeron 566

Best for that setup would be the Alpha PEP66, which was actually designed for slotket mounting. Otherwise any low profile socket 370 heatsink would work, especially ones designed for 1U/2U rack mounting...

Are there Noise issues with side panel fan????

Depends on the fan. It is open to the outside, plus facing nearer to you than the rear exhaust fans, so yes, you will hear it more. As for allowing more internal noise out... to a small degree, but the fan itself will be what you notice first. So pick a quiet one, unless you have an ear-plug...

Fan Filters

Second that no filter on exhaust comment. Also, most of the plastic fan holders are designed for ease of assembly rather than airflow. Often they actually block airflow more than anything else. You might be better off just removing the holder, and cutting out the metal, then drilling bolt...

Unsatisfied with my TEMPS!

Really do need the ambient temps to do a valid comparison. With the normal free mods of clearing airflow passage through the case (removing metal in front of fans, opening front cover vent holes, bundling cables, etc) you should be able to achieve temps within about 5-7 degrees of ambient. Big...
