Guess you've never played Eve Online then. People stay logged into that idle all the time. The server is restarted daily, but if it weren't you could stay logged indefinately for sure. 2d

Filco keyboards were availible from Elitekeyboards.com but they have since stopped carrying them. If you are looking for qaulity keyboards that is a good place to look. I got my happy hacker from there. 2d

Best *quality* general notebooks

to the OP of this thread I would highly recommend Lenovo's Thinkpad line. I've never used any of their other product so I can't comment on them. I however own a X220t and have used the R and T series. I have not foudn any other laptop that compares in terms of pure quality and useability...

ssd alignment error?

I recently installed a msata ssd into a x220t. After using an imaging program to move the OS, I double checked the alignment with paragon's alignment tool. It reports the alignment is correct. I read that the initial partition should only be 100 meg, but mine is 600 meg. Even though the...

looking for quiet, lightweight, reasonably fast machine

The x220 is a great idea. I have the tablet version, and the fan only REALLY kicks in when you have the system set to high power and turbo boost enabled. But the x220 will be pushing your $1,000 max if you opt for any upgrades. (ie: faster processor, webcam, bluetooth, wimax, 3g radio, etc.) 2d

On the N900 this is resolved by moving your finger from the left of the screen towards the center. This cause a cursor to appear which can be used for rollover. You can also click and icon that shows up in the same corner to permanently enable the cursor until you click that button again...

I see a lot of people listing free anti-virus programs here. Avast and Avira both add a ton of overhead to your system (ok, a ton might be an exaggeration). MSE is part of the windows framework, and sits on top of the already in place firewall system. Every other anti-virus program i've used...

Where are all the 6970's?

My question, is where the HECK are all of the 6990s? It seems like they amd did one batch of those and when they sold out that was it. They aren't making anymore. Given that the 6990 beats the pants off a stock 590, you'd think they would at least put more of them in the market. 2d

Temp Monitoring Info?

I've been using Everest for the longest time, and it is without a doubt the best temp, voltage, fan speed, etc. monitor I've found. It has since been bought out by the orginal maker of the program, and is now called AIDA64. Highly recommended, but you do need to pay for it. I use the gadget...
