Snow/ice running - recommended devices?

Yaktrax rock. I also have used 1/2" sheet metal screws. Just screw them into edges of the midsole of a 2/3 worn out shoe (non-Nike or the air will pop) and the hex head grabs when I need it.

Getting back on track here... The ones I'd suggest to you are the New Balance 905 (in 2E) or Nike Lunarglides (regular D width). Although the Lunars don't come in wide, they are a pretty wide shoe to start with. I'd caution you from going to a lightweight trainer at all if you need extra...

Sorry, here you go. I'm not doing your homework all night. Here's 4 others with 4 widths. New Balance may have more models with 4 widths (their fit tends to be awkward enough to require it), but the point is that every manufacturer has an abundance of widths available and you just need to ask...

Calf injury

You may also want to look into a compression sock like Oxysox or Sugoi makes one as well. They help to keep better blood flow in the calves and reduce residual affects of fatigue and tightness. You'll think they're dorky at first, but you'll become convinced after using them.

You have false perceptions of brands based on 1985 knowledge and experience. Every manufacturer makes shoes in widths now (and has since about 1995) and can serve virtually every foot type from flat-severe overpronator to high arch supinator and everywhere in between. You'll surprise yourself...

Go to the Track Shack. They're a great group of people in there and needless to say, they see a lot of feet. I work at a running store out in MI and can tell you that these guys are good. They've been going pretty well in Central FL for several years now and are part of the 50 best shops in...

Chrome - anyone using it?

I am using Chrome right now as my primary. I didn't like it at first, but it's really grown on me. Now, I love it. Most of the plugins are becoming available now, so compatibility is great. I still have firefox as a backup, but haven't needed it for weeks.

I was at the race working with the elite athlete coordinator and race director all weekend. I talked with both of them privately about the situation and we all (I am an elite athlete myself) agreed that this is athlete's error. I'll tell you this, when there is even so much as $100 on the line...

Why was Bush re-elected?

I voted for Bush not once, but twice. I have to say that both times I've gotten to vote for a president, I've had to choose the "lesser of 2 evils" approach. Honestly, I wouldn't have minded Gore in 2000 (before he went hyper-environmental), but I definitely couldn't stand Kerry's pomp...
