Replacement CPU died in 5 months, possible cause?

I've had small static 'zapps' over time finally do me in on a couple of boards. I finally ended up going to a plastic case on that rig and ground strapping everything to a step mat. I still get a zap that will boot a system in another room sometimes, but not as often. Side Note: New shoes on a...

socket 939 vs. socket AM2

One thing that made me look twice was the day I did a pifast test on my 939- 3200 then popped in a AM2 4000 Bisbane and ran it again. The 939 was 15% faster, yet the AM2 does better rendering.

Dragon+ enabled IDE on Raid channels, But win2k can't see the drive on channel 3

I don't get it, do you want raid? It sounds like it in one way, but then not. raid requires the fastrack controlled driver at startup (f6),,,,,, two IDE's drives take the ultra 100 and the jumper set to non-raid. Maybe it's to early in the morning to think,, I'll go get coffee:>).........

What UPS (Back Up Power Supply) do you have?

I've got a Power Expert (the one from newegg-generic) and the driver (disk) was broken in half. Does anyone know the setting for XP or maybe a copy of the drivers,,,,PLEASE. I've been try all the boards with no luck, I most be the only one who brught one:o

Soyo Dragon Plus rules!

Links giving me nothing, or a blank page

Well heck, I had to do a restore to a day or so ago, I'm in XP by the way, and now when I click on a link in either OE6(i get nothing) or on a web page that links to another site and usualy opens another window,, all I get is a blank window. Any pointers on what or where would help.. I dont...

Help! Dragon+ & Volcano 7

If your sure the HS is seated and the fan is running, then I would boot with insert down and goto bois and watch the cpu temp. Mine reads 10C lower than a temp probe. If bios reading is 30-34 your ok. (dont load system monitor utlis.,, it uses 100% CPU and is a true waste). Fan RPM needs to...

Power Supply for Dragon+ and 1.6 GHz

If you can afford the 350W,, do it. The 300 may work,, board has a lot of features, and needs QUALITY PS (and mem). I'm using a Enermax 350 whisper and have the temp sensor taped on top of the supply. I very rarely hear the PS fan kick in. I have 4 case fans (low RPM) and a 34CFM-80mm on the...

Aren't there any perfect KT266A motherboard ?

Give another look into the Dragron+. There is another forum(amdmd) that deals just with the dragon+ and it's issues, they are good ppl and quite helpfull(flaming is very rare). For me it was the best bang for the buck (with the extra cables and all). stable at 149fsb and raid 0 bench=48000...

Then there were two: Soyo Dragon Plus, or Gigabyte GA-7VTXH ?

The alpha 8045 fits the dragon PLUS very nicely. Use the shoulder nylon washers (inclued with the HS). Just a few more thing to get and it's boot time, the flashin the bios first thing.
