I really don't think you can be too demanding at this price range. The polks are subjectively probably as good as anything else you can get at this price. The fake cherry veneer and binding posts alone make it worth it. You couldn't build these speakers for $25 each yourself if you factor in...

The Polks are decent for the price you pay. What audiophile speaker are you planning on getting for $50? Please. For a fun non-demanding HT, I think they are fine. The R30's go deep enough in my room - I don't feel the need for a sub. Good enough for a fun HT. I would probably get a R15...
