Cannot set wallpaper or view thumbnails in Vista

Can't get Wake-on-LAN to work

PC Problems

Disconnect all PCI expansion cards, IDE devices, and keep only one stick of RAM in the system. Reset the CMOS and see what happens. If you are still not getting any video, try another power supply and video card. I'm working on a family member's computer right now that has the exact same...

XP Repair Install hangs at 39 minutes. Please help!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have used the exact same XP CD before without any problems. It has no scratches as far as I can tell and begins the initial file copy at the blue screen without any problem. I can't get into Safe Mode but I can boot Bart's PE if need be.

Whole screen sorta refreshes when scrolling in IE or firefox..

Make sure you have the most current video card driver and try disabling all background processes.

Plug and Play broken...

I'm no registry expert, but you can try a program like Registry Mechanic or something similar. See what it does for you. If all else fails, try a backup and a repair install of XP as per the instructions at: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

I think you would be better off doing a repair install of XP as per the instructions at: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm Just be sure to make a backup of all important files ahead of time using Bart's PE and copying to an external drive or by a ghost image. Good luck!
