you have to install the windows cd and boot from it and run the repair console on that partition that has your os on it currently. ----------------------- ACID ---------------------
yes, the pentium 2's actually reminded me of a old nintendo game cartridge!!!! :P i have one here actually from back in the ancient days!!!! i have a pile of 1st gen pentiums too!!! i have to agree with zorba though on all this cause if the air is moving at a sustained amount of speed...
i have the asus P5N-E SLI and it doesnt buzz at all. i bought it the first week they came out though so i dont know if the first batch was better or what. maybe because their was no rma boards mixed into the batch because it was the beginning of launch??!?!?!? board has held a good overclock and...
x2,
because windows reserves a chunk of the harddisk which is called a boot sector that contains all the necessary info to boot that particular motherboard it was installed on. certain chipset driver information is on there along with other info it needs to get past the bios post and move to...
those are nice boards. the only thing i dont like about them are how close the SB chip is to the pc/pci-e slots. if you have a vid card in there all that heat from the SB chip is right there under it, and thats bad if your running one of these super hot 8800's. hopefully that heatpipe is a top...
pharmdeity,
well, you can use it, but those chips use 40% more wattage than a C2D so your definetly going to generate more heat. it will probally work but i wouldnt try overclocking them cause if you put a load on them their really going to be running hot!!! just make sure you invest in a...
dvad3r,
yeah, mixing and matching different companies ram is really never a good idea. they have to be pretty similar in timings and voltage to really run correctly. thats probally why it wouldnt boot right. the voltage requirements are probally way out of whack. too much for one set and too...
i have the patriot memory 1gb stcks and 512 sticks ( dual channel kits) but i bought the cas4 version which are made with the new micron "fatbodys". the cas5 sticks use the Elpida IC's and Powerchip IC's. those IC's are terrible and are not overclocking friendly at all. unless you get the higher...
tullphan,
if your thinking of getting a open box 6xx chipset i wouldnt risk it. its probally a RMA from someone else that couldnt get it to work and killed it. an open box 570 or 590 chipset might be a good deal cause those chipsets are pretty reliable so i wouldnt be too worried about those...
good, that media shield contains the "nvidia headache" !! :) good job , enjoy!!!!!

firebyyrd,
each one of those drivers are important chip parts on your motherboard that need drivers to run the chip correctly. ethernet is your internet connection, smbus is your "system management bus " and is important for how your sytem components interact with each other, installer is the...
richc7,
ya, if you dont give your system a voltage tweak here and there when your overclocking, it will start doing exactly what your describing. they get real flaky when you start getting into overclocking territory and you dont do the appropriate tweaks to match the overclock. clear your...
tullphan,
well the tforce 570 board is the newer chipset. youll probally get better support for the 550 because its been around longer though!! :( i have no personal expierence with these boards but from what i can see in the specs the 570 has a better audio chipset, 570 has a fatter rebate...
richc7,
did you increase the voltage for the cpu with the fsb overclock? the ram might need a voltage boost also if their in a linked mode. check that out and let us know. :)
