Apple Cancels its Cube....doesnt even make its first birthday.

*nods* to wyvern. I agree the cube was a great design. One computer company can't please EVERYONE, yanno. You all realize that the cube, like the imacs, have only PASSIVE cooling? If you've ever worked on a computer that made NO sound, you know this is a pleasant surprise.

I use a msi 694a/r with dual p3/1gig. Yes, win2k will be able to use both processors (you must have matching processors). No, I don't think this setup is any faster than an overclocked 1.3 or 1.4 T'bird. Buying a server motherboard from Intel will cause you either to get RDRAM ($$$!) or have...

The SCSI "WoW" Factor isnt very high for me...

when the scsi bios is loading, you should be able to press a key and get into the scsi configuration. You can disable the SCSI scan as startup there.

I drive 70miles/day to and from work with my echo and put gas in it every 2 weeks (whether it needs it or not) see you at the pumps maybe dad should have bought cheaper cars and got a better house... is that aluminum SIDING?

What's the difference between Unbuffered and Registered Ram?

Crucials 256meg modules have only 16 chips. There is no reason to pay the extra $ for registered memory unless your motherboard requires it (which it doesn't)

SCSI Versus IDE RAID

why NOT use raid? Sure, if one HD fails, you lose ALL your data, but we are all backing up... aren't we? ;-) If the hardware is there, utilizing the 2 40gig HDs @ raid 0 will give nothing but extra performance. (more than 15% according to http://www.anandtech.com/storage/showdoc.html?i=1491)...

Be careful with newer Dells

Here's another reason to stay away from Dell. They include a "recovery" cd. Basically, if you need to restore your system, you put in the recovery cd which checks the hardware to make sure you aren't trying to install windows on another machine. Guess what? If you upgrade the hard...
