what heatsink to use on an amd 2700xp cpu?

I'd probably suggest an SLK-800 with an adjustable Enermax 80mm fan.

Buz2b: Yeah, it didn't make any sense to me either. The only thing I did was change the heatsinks. The fans were all plugged into the same headers. The only thing I can think of is that the fan on the Alpha (a Panaflo L1a) is causing problems because it doesn't have a RPM sensing wire. I'll...

Dead CPU???

I'm using an Antec True480, so the power supply definitely isn't an issue. Actually, I just got it working by switching the heatsink from the Alpha to a Vantec w/6800rpm Delta Fan.

Aluminum vs Steel Case - heat release and cooling

In the real world, the faster heat dissipation of aluminum doesn't mean much. Your CPU will likely run at the same temperature as with a traditional steel case. However, for only a $25 difference it's definitely worth moving to aluminum, if only for the difference in weight.

Accurate Temperatures?

Hi all. I recently installed MBM5 and was somewhat surprised to see the temperatures for my Athlon T'Bird 900: 23c idle and never goes above 30c. This is with a Vantec CCK6035 and a 30-something CFM Sunon fan. I don't think these temps are at all accurate. What do you think?
