Best Notebook CPU

What about a Core 2 Merom 7200 or ever 7600 compared to an AMD Socket AM2 X2 4600+....Power consumption isn't a concern as much as power, I'm pretty sure that the x2 4200 is better than the mobile core 2 duo merom, im just as to what everyones opinion is on how much better is the performance.

For CAD and intense multitasking, with battery lifespan not a concern, which would be best.... AMD Mobile Ahtlon 4000+ 2.6ghz, Pentium D 940, or Core 2 Duo Merom?

Barebone Notebooks

Okay, for some time now I have been searching through endless pages trying to find where I can get a barebone socket 754 notebook that supports an AMD 3400+ cpu with a decent gpu. I found one made by Uniwill, P50CA. But their customer service is terrible, I call and the person that answers...

Ubuntu is awsome, just 1 minor issue...

I'm almost posotive its a driver issue that is kinda odd, because whenever I use the ubuntu live cd, the internet works perfectly for hours and never loses the connection.... but when I boot into Ububntu when its installed on the hd, it doesn't work.

Sorry, forgot to mention that I tried that to, I can't connect to the modem either when its like that. My other comp is online still the entire time wirelessly. It would make sense if the 4 port switch on the router was going dead, but typically that just goes completely dead from what I've...

I tried out Ubuntu as everyone suggested and love it, it's going to be perfect for who I want to set up with it. However there is one minor issue I seem to be facing. When I was in Ubuntu on the live cd, it worked online fine. However after installing the OS, it stays online for roughly 1 minute...

Best Linux for a computer novice...

Just out of curiosity, what does everyone think is the best version of linux for a complete computer novice. I haven't tried too many, but so far Linspire seems nice, mostly due to the Clink N Run service, making installing applications much easier for a novice. I'm sure I am way off here, so...

HD Lifespan

I think typically Maxtor, and there isn't really anything outside of the ordinary with the drives that are dying, as far as I can tell they are running at normal temps....

For an Opteron 165, with intentions of overclocking, think its better to get pc 4000 and try to match the memory FSB to the CPU FSB, or go for pc3200, and get the lower latency? For example, 2gb dual channel OCZ Plat rev 2 pc3200, or G.Skill extreme 2gb at pc4000. Also, can a properly...

Opteron 165 o/cing

I've got a 0551 UMPW, best I can get is 255mhzx9 @ 1.35v, even if I increase core voltage it still doesn't go any higher than it did when at stock. It gets to right before verifying dmi pool data and restarts everytime, think I can get any higher than 2295mhz?
