24 inch crt's

Watch ebay. I got 3 21" Sony Trinitrons for $25/each. Shipping wasn't an issue since I bought them from a local seller and showed up with a van to pick them up. I've seen 24" Sony widescreens go for $300 to $400 - they don't get discounted nearly as much.

I wouldn't. You're making a sideways upgrade, not much improvement. You'd get shader model 3, but not much performance improvement. Hit up ebay - I just sold an x850xt for $88, and there are even better deals on there as well.

Overdrive disabled in ATI 7.3 drivers?

Okay, I installed ATI Tray Tools Beta for Vista... which is a bit buggy and was using huge amounts of CPU. However, after I installed it, the Overdrive option reappeared on CCC. Problem solved.

Powercolor X1950 Pro Overheating issues. Help!

FWIW, I've had this issue before with PowerColor. It was a LONG time ago - Geforce 2 days - but it was the exact same thing. Card would not run stable at stock speeds. In that case it was supposed to be a Pro, and when I removed the heatsink, it turned out it was a non-pro chip on a pro PCB...

Overdrive disabled in ATI 7.3 drivers?

I am running an x850xt in Vista. I was using Overdrive from the CCC (control panel is not an option in Vista, only the control center). Now, after updating to the 7.3 drivers - overdrive is missing! WTH happened and more importantly, how do I get it back? I'd rather not use ATI Tool and ATI...

47-48C is not overheating. If the card is crashing at those temps, there is definitely something seriously wrong and you should return it. You didn't say if the card actually is causing problems, but it should be able to go MUCH over those temps. GPUs have a much higher heat resistance than...

Logitech LX7 Mouse Driver Issues

I'm using a Logitech Cordless Desktop keyboard/media remote with an LX7 Cordless Optical mouse. The combo came originally with an LX5 mouse, but the LX7 works with the same receiver... The problem I'm having happens with EITHER mouse, the LX5 or the LX7... The mouse basically goes "vanilla"...

No bluescreens here from xvid or divx, have ATI and 7.1 drivers (haven't updated yet, maybe I shouldn't?) ... I'm using the Vista Codec Pack as well as FFDShow.... I *DO* get Media Center crashes when previewing XVid/DivX files, however But they do play, as long as I don't get let Media Center...

Which AMD cpu?

939 chips are in demand due to people who are wanting to upgrade yet not ditch their DDR memory for DDR2, and/or don't want to lose their AGP video cards. Socket AM2 requires DDR2, which is a significant cost difference if you're upgrading, and DDR2 offers ABSOLUTELY no performance advantage...

Upgrade options for my 939?

I've got the Opty 170, overclocked to 2.9ghz on a DFI LanParty... I see no reason for an upgrade for at least two years, myself.... wait until the nextgen quadcores are out into the lower price range.... I'm sure I can hold out - I had the previous Athlon64 3500+ single core for over 2 years...

Windows Vista Ultimate 3-pack DVD OEM @ the 'egg

So does anyone have links to back up what has been said here about the OEM being limited on activations? I'd hate to buy the OEM from the 'egg, and then lose all use of it should I decide that my DFI LanParty becomes outdated, or if I have to reinstall more times than they think is Kosher.

Where to get ATI Silencer 5 Rev 2?

Yeah... I currently use ATI Tray Tools.... since the default fan speed profile on many x850XTs is borked anyway (fan turned off until card is baking at 90+ degrees)... They probably did that in an attempt to control the noise... However, at low speed it growls/drones. I can hear it even at 10%...
