    I think it was a bad modem previously. I ordered a new one, set it up yesterday, and now smokeping gives me much better results. I'm at 0% packet loss from 1 location and 1.5% from the other 2 locations. This compares to the roughly 18% I experienced earlier. Thanks for all the help.

    They price match Amazon and so I've got no issue shopping there... if anything, returns are easier, and so I'd prefer to shop at BB as long as they keep the price matching.
