Thanks. Problem solved with a new Power Supply.
The lit green LED on the mobo was what threw me. I figured the board was getting power and maybe it was but not enough to boot the system.
All is well now anyway with a new PS.
Inwin 500 case w/PowerMan 300w
Intel 845PEBT2 w/2.8 P4
System has been running fine for a year and will not power up now. Is the power supply dead? Small green LED on the motherboard lights up but no system powerup. Also, normally I would see small light come up when I plug in LAN cable to...
Just an update -- Intel has a great warranty!
Received a brand new 2.8 'retail' processor from them to replace the one that I broke the pin off of.
That was a big relief! :D
Thanks for all the feedback and 'moral support.'
Just got off the phone with an Intel rep after telling him my sad story and I'll be RMA'ing the CPU back to them. He made no promises but stated that the warranty dept. was "usually pretty good" with "these kinds of cases" and I could "probably"...
Wanted to replace the stock heatsink on the P4 on my 8INXP and to make a long story short.....didn't think I exerted that much force pulling the sucker off but......I pulled the CPU right out of the socket, bent the pins, broke a pin off and the 2.8 is dead as a doornail.
Any chance that Intel...
I've been running the 8INXP now for 3 weeks and had the problem with the 9700pro. What worked for me was raising the AGP/PCI lock as you've done (just one increment) and turning off Fast Writes in the ATI Control Panel.
Running rock stable now at 165 FSB -- Corsair XMS3200C2 @ 2-2-2-5.
Still...
Got the TB Santa Cruz in PCI Slot #3 with no issues on my 8INXP. Not running in Top Performance mode -- seemed to be some stability problems at 160FSB with Top Performance activated.
Have not tried EasyTune.
Good luck with 8INXP PJ! I've been running mine for about a week now with my 2.8ghz P4. I'm a novice at the P4 OC game -- a recent convert from the AMD camp. I'm slowly ramping her up -- measuring stability, which is more important to me than the raw speed.
Right now at 155FSB (3.23ghz) --...
Kowan:
I really wanted to pull out all the stops and go with the 3.06 w/HT. But at the show I went to, the best price anyone would give me on the chip was $750. I saw it at Newegg.com for around $650 the day before. If someone at this show would have matched that price, I swear I was crazy...
Mech:
Did a quick compression test for you with a 'warez' copy of UT that I had laying around and I'm happy for you that your score is still safe. Took me 2.5 minutes. I'm still keeping this 8INXP board, however. :D
I'll give it another go as I ramp up the overclock in the days ahead.
Hey Kowan!
I was one of the first people through the gate and the dealer who had it only had 1 board. I knew I had to sh*t or get off the pot cause it would be gone my next time around. I grabbed it and I saw no other GB boards at the show. Basically, right place at the right time for me.
I...
Hey Elvis!
I just picked up this board at a computer show here in NJ yesterday -- $279 (ouch!!) -- and started the setup last night. Had a lot of the same RAID problems as you did, so I scratched it and went with the regular IDE channels. Of course I have never set up a RAID array before so I...
TCWO.com had both the 8RDA+ and the 8RDA in stock this morning @$108 for the + and $99 for the stripped one. They were offering a free shipping promotion earlier but I'm not sure if that's still in effect.
Thanks for the heads-up. Will make it a point to stop by BestBuy.
No, it's not his best but it ain't bad. Best in my book is still The Wild, The Innocent and the E-Street Shuffle. Guess I'm showing my age now........;)
Thanks for the input -- for the most part it reinforces my inclination to ride the Nforce2 wave that seems to be cresting.
Lots of good suggestions -- the 2400+ was/is a contender for the price performance value but oc'ing is not my primary aim here and I'd just as soon spend the extra C-note...
