Thanks. Picked up 2. Works great on USB 3 with my Dell XPS 17 and USB 2 on the desktop. I think I am going back tomorrow to pick up 2 more for Xmas presents for my son and daughter. Yeah I know, I'm a romantic at heart.
On Oct 25th I ordered a Dell XPS 17. I paid the extra $25 for next business day delivery and the delivery date was to be November 9th. On the morning of the 9th I received an email from Dell telling me that there would be a delay and the new delivery date was the 23rd. The email did not explain...
Photoshop Elements 10 is a great compromise. It has most of SC5's capabilites at a huge savings. I use CS5 but it is a chore to use and become proficient in. Even though I have MANY US dollars wrapped up in every version of Photoshop since version 2.0 ( which was a huge stack of floppy discs and...
I am getting ready to build a new PC with the main emphasis on Photoshop CS5. I do however want to be able to run about anything I may throw at it later on. I will overclock it but I want it to run as quietly as practical. I do not think I have a need for an SSD and the price/capacity ratio is...
The only "reasonably" priced 17" RGB LED 1900x1200 laptops I can find are the Alienware M17x R2 recertified models from the Dell site. A well equipped recertified M17x R2 actually costs more than a recertified R3 with more memory, Sandy Bridge, etc.
Thanks for all the help. I just picked up an Asus RT-N56U at Frye's for $130. I based my decision on the great review on small net builder. I will be using all the security features it offers and as a bonus, one USB port for a hard drive and the other for a printer (I can finally retire my old...
Thanks guys, that was an eye opener. My IT guru coworker is not as sharp as I thought he was.
Follow-on question. I installed an Intel Ultimate-N 6300 AGN network card in my laptop. I want to replace my old Belkin Pre-N router to get the most out of the 6300 that I can. I would like dual band...
I have been using MAC control, WAN Ping Blocking and SSID Broadcast turned off to secure my wireless network. Can someone give me the pros and cons of this solution instead of WEP/WPA or other types of encryption.
Thanks in advance to all the really smart folks out there.
I just installed an MSI GTX 460 Cyclone.
Wow!
Photoshop CS5 problems solved.
BTW, It is quieter than my old 7600GT. Had to install it in the number 2 slot though, big cooler.
When I have both monitors connected I get a lot of artifacting and distortion during screen changes. Moving a window around the screen is a bit choppy, not smooth at all. I also get little oddities like when cropping an image in CS5 the dotted box doesn't show until you release the mouse button...
Since upgrading to Photoshop CS5 and two new monitors (Dell U2711, 27" and a U2410, 24") I find that my old Nvidia 7600 based video card is not quite up to running both monitors. I am not a gamer but would like to move up to newer Nvidia technology without breaking the bank. Does anyone have any...
