well I've attempted using the windows 7 backup utility.. its taken over an hour and the 1st DVD isn't even finished burning yet, and i know my burner isn't that slow. Any other ideas?

Any thoughts about this battery question..

Thanks for the insight. If SSD drives were cheaper I'd replace the existing hdd with one of those, that would increase speed and use less power.

Vista SP1 RC build

Well i uninstalled beta sp1 and got another BSOD. So it is the new nvidia drivers, 169.09 causing the problem. I have got my hands on a copy of vista service pack RC1, i'm going to try that and see if that makes a difference.
