This may be a bit off-topic but I just noticed that newly released Hitachi LCD HDTVs boast about using S-IPS panels. See here for details. Has anybody seen these in stores anywhere?

Received my 20WMGX2 yesterday from newegg. It has 6 dead pixels, possibly seven! What are my options? I am afraid if I call NEC they *may* exchange it with a refurb unit. I will have ended uppaying $400 for a used monitor. Very disappointed. Follouwup: Called Newegg, they will take it back...

The specs of 20WMGX2 indeed mention 89 degrees left/right and up/down, but this angle is measured from the monitor's center point, so the total viewing angle is 89 degree left/up + 89 degree right/down = 178 degrees all around. So there is no inconsistency.

Called my local Fry's stores to be told that the NEC 20WMGX2 had been "discontinued" and would not be in stock any more ... Any validity to this? Is the $100 rebate meant to help deplete stocks since the model has been discontinued? If so, what will NEC replace it with?

In the office I use a 23" HP LP2335 which is a 1920x1200 monitor. It's quite nice but font sizes can be on the small side as you point out. I also prefer non-wide monitors and am looking for one for home, but have been unable to find one with decent readable font sizing at the 1600x1200...
