XP 64bit Antivirus options?

Im using Avast 64-bit free home edition and its workign perfectly - even uses both cores :)

Interesting to see someone else with problems with the memory... Sorry it had to happen to you man. I am convinced the AGP problem when you have AGP read and AGP write enabled is due to the memory controller.

Interesting stuff, I have the same problem. I've been hopping all over the internet trying to find a solution to this, so I will try disabling USB legacy Support which I actually enabled while I was setting my board up initially. I may also play around with the gfx card and clean the agp slot...

R580: Here by January and smoking 2 512 7800s in SLI

No more than a day ago I was saying I was going to buy a GeForce GTX 512MB card. ATi's great ability to leak out or propogate a 'paper-launch' type of notice to all us freaks and enthusiasts makes us think twice. Good marketing strategy I guess. I suppose I will force myself to wait yet again...

Truth, reason, and 7800 GTX 512 SLI

I'm getting a single 7800GTX 512 to run on its own until the day when I cant run in 1600x1200 at 4xfsaa anymore... at which point I will buy another one and a new SLi mobo :)

Who will be buying a 7800 GTX 512?

I was waiting for ATi's 512MB card, but following the debacle (confusion/availablility etc) of Crossfire, I find myself choosing to go down the path of a single 7800GTX 512MB until I wish to lay out for a top end SLi mobo.

Installed new RAM and now games crash...

How long does it take for the games to crash, a couple minutes or longer? Does it happen in all games? If it does, try disabling AGP read and AGP write to memory (its in SMARTGART for ATi gfx cards), and see if it crashes. This is what I have to do with my memory at the moment until I replace...

Fair enough, but the only way you'll get to use all that Ram is with a 64-bit OS... Whenever you feel like it though, you have the Ram already so :)

Ok, thats simple, goto Microsoft's website and download the Windows XP x64 Evaluation ISO. Try it. It works great here, baring one driver issue I have sorted out now, and its the only OS I use for gaming/dev/movies/etc.

Right good question that.... I have an X800XTPE AGP card, and I did have issues getting the x64 AGP 3.0 driver (included with Windows x64) to work properly. It caused an issue where AGP modes of any speed couldnt be selected, and SMARTGART wasnt working out of PCI mode. I spent quite a while...

I would just like to add that games like Guildwars utilize about 80% cpu power on BOTH CORES AT ONCE and improve frame rates significantly with multiple characters onscreen or in one town at once. There are tangible benefits in these games that were never intended to work with dual cores, but in...
