Honestly have not read the entire thread so excuse me for jumping in the middle. I just put together (like completed 2 hours ago) a system for my wife with that same MOBO (X99m Extreme4) and a E5-2630v4 ES that runs all cores at 23x. Think that modded bios you have would work for me or is it...
Nope, not built yet. Saw the CPU listed and grabbed it. Next on the shopping list is an x99 Mitx MOBO, M.2 SSD(probably 512gb Samsung 950 Pro.. i love mine) and a stack of DDR4. My wife is in publishing, I'm not sure exactly what software they are using. I know some of the scripts they run in...
Nice to see AMD offering up some serious competition again but the X99 platform still has some legs. I just picked up a ES Intel Xeon E5-2630 v4 $150... cna't beat that yet. ;p
At this price you will probably be able to sell it for close to what you paid.... which will still most likely be not near enough for a good Broadwell-E at launch. /rolleyes
Yup, they charge when you pick it up and you can apply the code in store. Nice way to ensure they don't have a sudden case of "OOS" by the time you get there.
It is in store only. What I did was order online, when I went in and picked it up I had them apply the promo code. I paid $277 for mine 3 weeks ago.. should go back and get my dorrar.. ;p
The mobo is the MSI X99A Raider, I picked up one of each today and ordered 16GB of Gskill DDR4 from the egg. I was going to hold out for BF deals on a 6700k... but at this price I could not resist.
Really My bad, I should have read more first. A few review sites mistook the wifi expansion slots as mSATA as well. Think I can probably still use it, just get a cheapo SATA controller and drop it in the PCIE slot. I was not planning on putting a video card in there anyway. Thanks for the...
I got one of these the last time around, for $30ish after MIR (which I received). I was planning on using it for light duty as a HTPC. Ordered a 240GB mSATA drive last week for it as the board only has 2 SATA ports. Figured the mSATA for OS, one SATA 3TB drive for storage and one SATA Blue ray...
I bit a few days ago. I have a new Coolermaster box sitting in the garage that needed a MITX mobo. Not even sure what I'm going to use it for yet. Prolly experiment with it as a media center. If that does not pan out my 4 year old gets his first PC to play flash games on. ;)
I see absolutely no reason to upgrade from my P67 board. It already supports the newer CPU's and I'm not seeing anything horribly attractive in the z68 or z77 boards that would compel me as a gamer to jump off my current platform.
Now if Intel had got their act together and got more than 2...
^^^ What they said. I just replaced my H70 in favor of a custom loop that included a GPU block. Anyway.. the H70 idle temps on my i5-2500k were in the 30's and full load at 4.6Ghz saw temps in the 60~70c range.
