Box that pops up when gaming?

It looks like an IME field, probably activated by Ctrl + Space or something like that. Turn off other language inputs in Control Panel\Language

PS3 Controller on PC?

I use SCPServer now, after having used MiJ and then BetterDS3. Works with cable as well as a $1 Bluetooth adapter.

You can play DLC heists w/o buying them. Just jump in a lobby hosted by someone else. Give them a shot and see if you like them. Sniper and shotgun packs change up the combat gameplay a lot, recommended. The Courier Mod pack also helps a lot with optimizing your guns.

Only the host needs to own the Heist DLCs. You don't need to buy them to join a lobby. If you have a group of friends you can use that to your advantage. The weapons packs that give the biggest change in gameplay are the sniper, shotgun, and mod courier packs.
