All I can say is that my fan still runs fine with a resistor adapter while on the minimum voltage of 28-30%.

Yeah. My fan has no problem spinning up, it still spins even on the lowest fan speed setting / no load.

One simple fix I did way buying some cables from from moddiy. I got a male 2 pin GPU fan to a female 3 pin fan connector, a low noise fan adapter (a resistor cable) and a male 3 pin to female 2 pin GPU cable. It works perfectly. such that the fan is completely silent now at idle. Even...

AMD to equivilent Intel CPU

What's the point of spending a lot on the motherboard? I mean, you can buy a high-end CPU like the i7 4790k, drop it in a h81 mobo and it will run with no problems. So what's the point of getting anything above a h81 board unless you need 6 sata ports, 6 usb3 ports etc. (and who needs that...

Thoughts on quiet video cards

I have a r9 290 Sapphire tri-x. While it is supposed to one of the quietest r9 290 cards, I still think it is too noisy at idle, for no good reason. The card isn't hot at idle. I ordered some cables so that I can put in a low noise resistor on the fan, perhaps that will help me out. Some...

can a i3 cpu run most games?

I upgraded my old socket 775 system to an E5450 (eq. to Q9650) at 3.75ghz. How does that stack up against a Haswell i3? :P Also bought a used r9 290 to pair up with it. Cheapest upgrade ever.

NCASE M1 - they're taking orders!

The future for all builds is ITX with no optical, not just HTPC. Anyway the optical is hidden away really well on this case, and there are no 5" front bays, so this is very close to what I would ideally build my future gaming system in.

It's a wonder why it would take a kickstarter campaign to come up with a mitx case that doesn't look like shit. Why didn't Lian Li start producing something like this long ago? Heck, they could remove the old-skool 1990's cd-drive, would make the case even better. it's 2013 already.
