We (DPC) do lose blocks every now and then. I lost 75% of the amount that I flushed the other day. For now I accepted it as something that can happen but it shouldn't happen more frequently or it will affect my temper pretty negatively.
I'm interested in your theories, DanC. Wanna share?
I'd say: Update your bios.
Bios updates may go wrong and ruin your mobo but that should not keep you from doing it. Just follow the instructions carefully (and be sure you use a thoroughly checked (scandisk) floppy disk to boot from).
It may be good compared to other i820 boards. I really don't know because I've hardly seen any. But about every decent motherboard with the good old BX or i815 chipset combined with SDRAM will give a better overall performance than i820 mobos.
Tom's Hardware site published some comparison tests...
Hello fellow DPC members,
Please don't get over-excited in this forum. Some of the TA members really don't appreciate it. You'd better save your celebrations for GoT.
My sincere apologies for touching a sore spot. I didn't realise it would be such a big deal to some of you.
It's nice to see though that many of you interpreted the little remark in my previous posting in this thread just like it was intended. An innocent joke. Thanks for backing me up.
The fact that they flushed 2.8mil says absolutely nothing to me when it concerns the overall no.1 spot.
It's more interesting to know how long it will actually take them to do it again.
If it's a once every month happening, both TA and DPC have nothing to worry about. Well, TA a tiny bit more...
If TA's 2mil+ is the result of the missing blocks of the last couple of days showing up, DPC doesn't have to fear just yet.
Keep up the good work
But we'll do better. :)
