Maybe try messing around with the display options for the card. I have a Voodoo 5, and I find that Triple Buffering and Geometry Assist help a lot and don't give me any problems. Make sure you get the newest drivers too, the most recent betas work great (Voodoo 4 and 5 use the same drivers).
In Win98 I set my "Typical Role Of Computer" under File System to Network Server. That seems to help everything a bit. Hopefully that's not old news to all of you..
Hmm, I have the Intellimouse Optical. I went for that one because it was $20 cheaper and I heard the Explorer is kinda "big". Optical mice are the way to go...
I just use regular CD-Rs to record audio. I know what you're talking about when you say the Audio CD-Rs because I've seen them (and not sure what the point is), but just regular will work fine. I actually got a pretty good deal at Best Buy, they had a 30 pack of Memorex 700 MB/80 min CD-R in...
Yea actually right after I posted I read that 3DMark 2000 isn't very good for Voodoo cards, so I tried 3DMark 99 (I heard it's better?). I got these in 800x600 16-bit color:
3DMark 2000 - 3810
3DMark 99 - 5945!
I wonder if that's correct. 3DMark 99 runs different tests but does anyone know if...
Recently I have upgraded my computer quite a bit... When I did a benchmark with my system at 667 Mhz and a Voodoo 3, I got a score of 2618 at 1024x768. After I upgraded to the Voodoo 5, my score is only up to about 3200. The benchmark doesn't look that great, but the games I play look fine...
I have a Voodoo 3 2000 PCI (not a 3000) running on a PIII 667 with 256 MB SDRAM. At any time on this system, the only things I have running in the background are Explorer and Systray. My system resources are usually about 96% free. Here are the scores I got with 3DMark 2000:
Voodoo 3 2000 PCI...
I have a Dell Dimension L667r with an Intel 810E MB. No AGP slots (GYARRGH). I currently have a Voodoo 3 2000 PCI in there and I want to upgrade to a Voodoo 5 5500 PCI to show my respects towards the recently departed 3DFX (really though, what else do I have to choose from for a PCI card?). The...
I also have a Dell... In my opinion, since PCI is pretty much dead and not being supported AT ALL by GeForce 2 cards (except one sub-par card), the Voodoo 5 is the best PCI card around, and it will probably stay that way.
