Right, that's correct. But he also only tested a couple of boards. The VRMs themselves are not the problem. The heatsink designs and armor can be depending on the board. Yes a 10 core will certainly push them harder than my 6 core but the TUF Mark 1 has much better VRM design than the Aurous...

I certainly won't disagree with you that AMD is currently the best for mainstream plat multimedia and workstation use. I also believe that quad cores(physical) are a dying breed as the future is 6+ cores(even for gaming). Threadripper does not have enough details out for me to even consider it...

X299 boards all have bad VRM design, and not enough power?

Indeed. It's not Intel's fault, although maybe aside from rushing the launch. The VRM heatsinks are the issue. Easily rectified.

Help with X299 Memory Choice

Gskill is made with Samsung modules from what I've heard. Personally I've used both GSkill and Corsair and I prefer Corsair. I also upgraded to X299 and am running a CAS latency of 15. Try to get as tight of timings as possible. You typically get 4 x 8 gb modules for 32GB
