Well, after fighting this for the better part of a week, I may have solved it. The problems got worse and worse - various bizarre SSL errors, blank pages on HTTPS sites, no images loading on primarily-graphic sites (eBay, etc.) giving grotesque text-only pages, and even corrupted downloads...

Sanders? Sanding benches and fence

Have you considered a belt sander? I'd think that would make quick work of the 12' benches. I don't use mine (a Makita) very often, but it is a real pleasure for tasks where it's an appropriate tool. Art

privacy fences - 6ft vs 8ft

Agreed that it is an attractive fence. And also agreed that it is somewhat stark and unsettling. It might take a year or two, but appropriate landscaping - a climbing vine or simply some tall bushes against the fence - will give a more-coherent appearance to the yard.
