[POLL] - Smoking Ban

There's a smoking ban down here in Illinois, too. But, it is restricted to some cities (Champaign Urbana area right now), and those cities are kind of being used as guinea pigs for (possibly) a state-wide public smoking ban. I think it's a great idea because harm to the public from your own...

HELP! Wireless adapter on Toshiba Tecra not connecting

Thanks, but that doesn't seem to help... I think it has something to do with the drivers. But, I never updated them. I have an Intel 2200BG internal wireless card in my tecra. I'm still investigating, but until Wednesday I'm just going to settle with an ethernet cable as I will be on a road...

Hello all, I just received a package from microsoft with a shipping paper listing the included item as OFFICE 12 EVAL. But, inside was just a folder for a cd with a product key inside! I'm not complaining (I got free software :) ) but, I thought that a cd, manual, etc was going to be sent...

Vista File loss.

I'm booting only Vista, and I'm guessing it's NTFS 5. I was able to restore some image files from deletion in the process of installing windows. If the drive was reformatted, I probably wouldn't have recovered the files. (~1800 files and 4gb of space recovered on a 150g formatted drive).

I agree. If you dont know what you're doing, then you probably don't know how to disable it, either. So, either way, the problem is solved.

UAC is more of a handicap to me. It's like those plastic electrical plugs parents put on low outlets to keep children from electrocuting themselves. If you know how to use the power outlet, then there is no use for the plug.

Vista File loss.

Well, thanks Nothingman. I used Recover My Files and it found a directory (c:\lost files) on my computer that the Vista installation created-and deleted. For some reason, every time I do something-even the smallest thing- to my computer, someting catastrophic happens. But, so far, nothing...
