The difference in price isn't that bad between the two actually which is why I'm still on the fence. I've learned the hardway over the years that the PSU is not a part you skimp on.
Thanks PCTC2, that was my main concern about the case. Unfortunately I have to decide between good cooling or good sound insulation, I haven't found a case that does both that'll fit the hardware I want/need to run.
Ok so I'm building up a whole new rig. Only thing that'll be transplanted over will be my hard drives. After researching out various high capacity PSU's I think I've settled on the Zalman's. They seem to give a good cost vs silent performance. However I'm not sure just how much power I really...
So I'm building a new comp for the first time in like 6 years. My current case isnt going to cut it so I need to build up in a new case. After researching a bunch of cases the COOLER MASTER HAF looks to be decent but I'd like to hear if other people have this case and can give me some feedback...
The problem with shortcuts is the user might miss them, delete them, move them etc.. plus vista has a habit of eating icons at times (don't know how many times I've re-enabled the recycle bin at home). However a desktop background is something we can manage directly through policy's. The problem...
Heres a thought, would it be possible to create a custom desktop with just a giant button on it that says Log off? The main problem we're facing is just students and teachers not paying attention and locking/sleeping the computer instead of logging out.
Fantastic, thanks for the ideas everyone. Sadly the shortcut idea and the classic start menu aren't really options. The gpedit idea tho may have a strong possibility of working, I"ll play with it at work tomorrow and see what comes of it.
Hi all, hopping some Vista guru can help me out. The school I work at has just moved to Vista and those of us that maintain the lab have begun to experience a new kind of headache. We're trying to see if we can change the behavior of the start menu power button.
I know how to change it to...
The DDR3 thing is for trying to extend the life of the build as much as possible. Depending on where you go, you'll find benches showing anywhere from 0-15% increase in performance. Its not about whats got the biggest number and price tag. We've been through the discussion and its pretty much...
So here?s what?s happening. Buddy wants to build a new gaming system. He?s come to me for help with the motherboard only... it?s been about 5 years since I built a rig. SO I?ve gotten help on these forums before, here?s hoping you guys can help out!
At last count he was planning the following...
So what are people using for their rootkit detection? I know Avast and Spybot now sport them on their free editions. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Yeah I used to have to uninstall Norton on a fairly regular basis when I was a tech rat. Once you knew what you were doing it was easy but it still took about 40 minutes to clean out all the crap it left behind and repair the damage it did to Windows.
