Mouse problem

Appreciate your replies :) I think overlordstu had a good point. I had a look at the optical eye (nearly blinded myself cause I forgot to unplug it first). It looks clean but next time it starts creeping I'll see what's going on. It's behaving at the moment so I'm happy. :)

Mouse problem

Hi all, I'm having some trouble with my mouse at the moment. I'm on a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop, using a MS Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 USB mouse. The problem is that sometimes, the mouse will go to the bottom left corner of the screen by itself and insist on staying there no matter how much...

Computer trys to start up while its off?

Check out your bios settings under Power management. There are some settings there controlling the powering up of your computer. Disable the one(s) that are causing it to power up ;)

vdimm question

Hi just wondering how much does increasing vdimm impact the lifespan of memory. I'm using KVR DDR333 and have vdimm at 2.7V. How much will this shorten the memory modules' life?

How Much Power is Enough for THIS

Aside from the capacity of the PSU, you might also want to consider the amount of current it can supply on each rail 3.3V, 5V and 12V Perhaps do an inventory of your devices and see how much current they need on each rail, add them up and make sure the PSU you get supplies enough current.

CPU Over/Under clocking

Seems like I am able to change the multiplier on my desktop Barton. So that must mean it was from before week 39 '03. Is that a bad thing or should I consider myself lucky?

CPU Over/Under clocking

Hi just a quick question for the CPU clocking experts. For an Athlon Barton 2500 the CPU is going at around 1.8Ghz right? that's 166 times 11 Would it make any difference to the CPU if I clock it at 150 times 12 instead? That's still 1.8Ghz. I realise the performance would be lower cause...

machine reboots when case is knocked

I'd be checking for a loose power cable/wire. If that's not it, open the case and see what moves when you tap the case.

Stop 0x0000008E on Asus A8V

I had similar problems. Also with an Asus board and an Athlon. I'd be looking at the memory. I think running memtest for 6 hours isn't enough. I've had errors come up after 12 hours. Also, focus on test #5 and then #8 in memtest. Apparently a lot of Athlon systems have trouble with those tests...

Hard drive problem

Can you boot from the CD ROM? Set your bios so you can boot from the CD ROM.. put the winXP CD in and of you go ;) good luck.

Using memtest86+ to test memory

I'm using memtest86+ v1.20 to test my memory. I was getting errors in test #5 and #8 but I think I've fixed that by relaxing the memory timings. So far I've run memtest for about 32 hours on just test #5 and I'll run it for about the same on just test #8. So how long do I need to run memtest...
