Need help deciding on some good mobos

I have had decent encounters with the Biostar KT400 motherboard (M7VIT) It should support the AMD Barton chips -- you might go with the M7VIT Pro which adds a 10/100 NIC -- Newegg has this for under $70 delivered. My guess is that the XP2500 would be an easy overclock target as well -- it runs...

You might look at WinProxy -- similar to WinGate -- 3 user license is not that expensive and the new version definitely works with XP.

Did you reset the IP address including Subnet and Gateway to the what it should be? It *sort* of sounds like you might have gotten 'hacked' from the outside here.

Best mobo for ocing?

I was surprised that I was able to readily overclock a Biostar KT400 board Tbred 2100+ combination as much as 20% this past week -- but it was quite stable at that rate. Figured I got lucky and as a result, got a good bargain from the NewEgg folks.

We need more detail as to the actual power supply, motherboard and CPU combination. At a guess, either the CPU Fan is not quite doing its job, or the motherboard is not detecting the fan working, or the power supply isn't up to the task. For what it's worth, my own start point for either P4...

Motherboard for my dorm PC

One thing I don't see mentioned in the replies so far -- make sure you get a good power supply. It has a signficant effect of system stability. I see way too many 350W supplies offered for AMD XP systems -- 400W or more doesn't cost that much.
