R9 290x Buy or wait?

quick follow up question if i may; i've been looking online to see the power draw and physical dimensions of the card as MSI just gave me a full refund on my R9 280x. does anyone have a link or know off hand? thanks in advance.

Reasonable upgrade from a 4890?

thanks all for your thoughts; i can return the psu if it's that much of a problem. with that not an issue, it looks like the 480 and the 7850 are the competitors, and from the graph of the games i play above the performance difference seems negligible. thank you all again for your thoughts.

8800GTS SLI vs 8800GTX

I've used SLI for over a year now, and all in all i have to say i wish i had a single card. SLI causes problems which really don't seem to be outweighed by the performance differential. My 2c

howdy -I am not overclocking anything right now; nothing -my 7800gt's works perfectly -the ati card works perfectly in everything else (BF2, CoD2, HL2) -I've tried the CAT 5.5, 5.6, and the 6.1's -Emptied out my WTF, WDB, and Interface folders in WoW Problem: from the login screen...

new vid card for WoW

as an FYI OP, WoW is incredibly undemanding. As for Nvidia or ATI both are fine solutions; my friends play on 9800xt's and 6600gt's with max details and no problems.

Question about SLI

you must have another 7800gt; difference in clock speeds will result in the cards both running at the lowest speed. As for performance increase, i upgraded only for Oblivion; and i am very happy with the additional settings the 2nd card allowed. i don't have a %; merely a change from frustrated...

To SLI or not?

um sorry to say, but WoW doesn't work with SLI. i went SLI so i could play oblivion (which it really helped!!!) but there are major problems ALT-Tabbing out of WoW, and if you check Thot or are going to run two instances, you'll have problems. Forums are full of complaints about this, but...

What made the difference

i have to disagree; 9800xt to 6600gt is not a 2-3x better card. in testing, the two cards will exchange wins depending on the app
