GamePC: Samsung 240T LCD review.

This monitor has just been slashed in price, here in Denmark (where hardware are normally more expensive than in the US). It's now 2k$ here, so prob. less in the US... Still a lot of cash though, but I'm considering it :-) B.

Problems reading DVD+RW's in WinXP

I have just been burning data files, and asked Nero to close the session. Correct, I have removed the disc, and put it back in. Also tried rebooting and reading it again - same result.

Problems reading DVD+RW's in WinXP

I have a NEC ND-1100A DVD-writer, which WinXP (SP1) identifies as a DVD-rom/CD-RW drive. When I load an empty DVD+RW into the drive Windows shows 4.7GB free space as it should (but I guess as a big CD, not a DVD), and burning on the DVD with the latest version of Nero is no problem. The problem...

Maximum resolution on DVI-port

Yes, I want to use the Dell 2000FP, which has a native resolution of 1600x1200.

Maximum resolution on DVI-port

Does anyone know the maximum resolution on the DVI-port of a GF4 Ti4200 (prolink,Palit or similar), with 129mb DDR ??? On the D-Sub it's 2048x1536. B.

Fastest HDD setup (scsi)

Forgot to say that the Seagate has an U320 interface - not that it really matters, since I can only afford a U160 controller (and 32bit PCI is <133mb/sec. anyway). I guess it would only be the burst transfers (of max.8mb) that would benefit from the U320 interface anyway, since the HDD can only...

No one? bump-a-di-bump Transfer rates (NTFS) is as follows: start - end Seagate: 60,5mb/s - 45mb/s Maxtor: 53,9mb/s - 31,8mb/s Also the Seagate does ~40% IOs/sec than the Maxtor. But remember that the Maxtor(s) would be in Raid 0. B.

I will go with one of the following setups; which would be the fastest/best?? 1) Seagate Cheetah X15-36LP (15000rpm, 8mb cache) 2) Raid 0: 2xMaxtor Atlas 10k III (10000rpm, 8mb cache) Both setups will be 36gb, and will be used as primary drive for Win XP (including programmes and some games)...

SCSI - 64bit/mhz vs. 32 - compatibility ?

I've been looking into the Adaptec 2010S and 2005S SCSI raid controllers. These are both 64bit/66mhz PCI cards - will they be compatible with my 32bit PCI on my Asus P4S533 board or not ??? Thx. B.

How to add custom resolution to win registry ?

The title just about says it. I am running Win XP Pro, with a GF4 ti4200 (128 DDR). I would like a resolution of 1680x1050 - I guess refresh rate is less critical, since I will be using the DVI port?? Thx. B.

I got the following answer from NVIDIA support (quite fast actually), with regards to using an Apple Cinema on a GF4 ti4200 (PC version): Solution: It is not a standard resolution and since I am sure Apple does not test their monitors on the PC side, it may be a lot of trouble to get it...

Apple makes a connector themselves (~100$) - hook up DVI,USB and power on one side - ADC (to screen) goes out on the other. B.

Tried the search - no luck. Apple makes a DVI->ADC adapter with DVI,USB and power in and ADC out (~100$). This will make the screen work with my PC, but in what resolution? How will 1600x1024 look (if it will work with the screen at all) ??? Screen has the 3 following resolutions: 1680x1050...

On another forum someone suggested, that my graphics card will detect the resolution (1680x1050) when I hook up the screen and install the drivers (??? - are there drivers at all or is it entirely plug'n'play with Apple, if there is I would guess it's only for Mac OS X - correct?!) B.
