yeah - usb samples a lot more per second than ps2 does so your mouse will be a lot smoother, but it uses more cpu resources like said above.. ps2 samples less so it won't be AS smooth, but it doesn't tax the cpu as much
don't mean to insult your intelligence, but do you have the latest drivers.. also - have you looked at the other scores that people get with the same/similar setup as you? that'll give you an idea of what everyone is scoring.
just heard from one of my friends that there's a playstation controller that you can hook up to yer computer via a usb converter.. rumble support and everything.. not sure about the validity, but he said he saw it at some store

have you gone under the speaker settings and set them up right for surround?
control panel -> sounds, speech, and audio devices -> change the speaker settings -> speaker settings
(advanced) -> speaker settings
try and see if that works

yeah - you might wanna go with a known brand even though you're looking at a low end system.. a bad psu can be the downfall of any setup.. try antec, sparkle, or enermax.

it could also be a problem with your battery - when they get low they start losing time.. try going to dos and type 'time' in the command line. if the time is still off what it should be, then replace your battery on the mobo.. make sure ya flash your bios cause i'm pretty sure it'll wipe it...
