Windows Address Book is SLOW!

I tried transfering all of my email and contacts to Outlook 2000. However, the process took several hours, at the end of which only a tiny portion of my email and contacts were actually transfered to Outlook. The problem may lie with Outlook Express, rather than Outlook, but the import/export...

Windows Address Book is SLOW!

Hi Mike. The system in question is a 1.3 Ghz AMD athlon with 512 MB sdram, 7200 rpm HDD and Win XP Pro. I have Outlook 2000 installed, I was not aware that it would handle my contacts better (I thought it used WAB also). Thanks for the tip.

I use Outlook Express 6.0, and that in turn utilizes the windows address book (WAB). The problem is for a heavy user like me, with over 15,000 contacts, creating a new message creates extreme lag, lasting for 20 seconds or so (I assume while the WAB is loaded into ram). My question is......IS...

IE 6.0/Win XP amnesia (History problem) + OE question

Update: I can temporarily solve the first issue by deleting some of the history contents. If anyone has any ideas on how to eliminate the flakiness of the history, please post. :) (I have plenty of hard disc space) Still looking for ideas on the second one...

Weird problem...entire system 'skipping'

Got a scanner connected to the pc? If I turn my scanner off, my pc exhibits these symptoms. My hardware and os load is almost identical so I thought I would mention it.

Problem loading up WIndows 2000...Help!

I had this problem upon changing motherboards as well. The only solution I found was to re-install win2k fresh onto a fomatted hard drive, as repaired installs were buggy to say the least.

Globalwin CAF12 failure

I bought a CAF12 system/card cooler recently, and it was working great for about a month and a half..then it just stopped. It moves slightly when power is applied but does nothing but twitch back and forth a bit and heat up. I opened it up and the windings etc look ok.. PC Power and Cooling...

Blank monitor on start up!! need help!

I have seen this one so often it's not funny. 99 times out of 100 the AGP card is not seated all the way down into the slot. Even if it looks like it's all the way in, it might not be. My advice is to pop the retainer bracket off the vid card and then put the card into the slot. This way you...

Running Win2k. I had 256 megs of RAM. Now back to 128 and it sucks.

Yes same here. 256 is the only way to fly! Especially when you can get another 128MB for as little as $44.

WIN 2K IRQ Question.

Hi there. Is it normal for win 2K pro to lump all PCI devices onto IRQ 11? If not how do I change it so that there are no overlaping devices. PS everything plugged into the PCI bus is on irq 11 including the USB controller and AGP card. Also have a NIC, SCSI card and soundcard on there. Thanks...
