First, try King's suggestion above. If you are seeing different idle load percentages and issues related to time of day, then my guess is that you have a malware or other software problem. Do you have any legitimate programs on the problem computer that could be causing higher idle loads? If...
Ah, missed that bit. Out of curiosity, are both computers plugged into the same wall outlet? Do the restarts tend at all towards a certain time of day? Do they have the same HDDs? Do you notice any increased idle usages in the problem computer (RAM or CPU)? Does your BIOS report voltages...
Reboot could potentially still be caused by heat issues, but my guess is that the heat issues that you are experiencing are only a symptom of your real problem: a faulty PSU. Try swapping a new PSU into the problem computer (if you are able to) and see if the problem resolves itself.
Never fear, I am indeed still alive. My Master's program has started up again and between that and the new baby I've been very strapped for time. I still check in from time to time, but I've been writing so many papers that I often just want to shut the computer down at the end of the...
Quick update: my son arrived this past Sunday and my wife and I are settling in and trying to sleep when we can. I'll be out of the discussion for at least a few more days.
On its face, this sounds like a GPU issue. However, given your previous situation it could also be motherboard-related. Download Prime95 and run the blend test. Stop the test if your CPU or northbridge temp crosses 70C or after 15 minutes if you don't crash. That's all the time you'll need to...
1. Are you using the spare PSU when this happens?
2. What makes you think the chipset is overheating? Your northbridge temps look fine, but your CPU idle temps are a tad high.
3. Do these display losses occur at idle or under load? If they happen at idle, how long does it take after boot?
So both arguments lack conclusive, concrete evidentiary backing. I've seen the studies and already knew that--I even said as much in my first post. When such a situation arises, standard protocol is to fall back on conventional wisdom and previously established facts, not nebulous references...
I have to provide evidence of universally accepted economic foundations and basic business principles? No thanks, I'm not your professor. You're welcome to purchase a textbook if you doubt the veracity of my claims. I'm a good sport, though, and I'll give you a quick refresher for free. I...
An employment "spike" is an increase. There is no verifiable correlation between minimum wage increases and employment increases. The other side of that equation, however, is perfectly verifiable via basic knowledge.
Work on your reading comprehension skills before you call people...
You're wasting your breath. There is no verifiable correlation between employment spikes and minimum wage increases and anyone with even their pinky toe dipped into economic research knows that. However, common sense tells you that if you force wages--and thus operating expenses--higher, at...
This is an interesting case. The only legal standing that the tenants or Housing Authority had was based on the fact that the tax dollars paid for the property. Had this been an entirely private apartment complex I'm not sure that the tenants would have had any legal recourse.
I'm no...
President Obama is one of the most masterful politicians in history when it comes to timely redirection. He has so many scandals, so many balls in the air right now that he and the people around him are actually able to use them as a smokescreen. It's like a magician redirecting the audience's...
"Slave wage"? Wages "fit for a human being"? These are fluff phrases that mean absolutely nothing. The poverty line of the United States (around $11k for an individual this year) is well, well above the median income in the majority of the non-western world. Last year, World Bank economist...
