Be careful with iConcepts rebates.. many people are reporting that they are getting "lost in the mail", and when they fax in a copy of the submission, they learn that iConcepts refuses to take copies of UPCs, even for resubmissions. So you are basically SOL. Now, it may be that they...
Well, I didn't just find the guy on ebay. Someon at FW had recommended him as a good person to buy from. But I didn't look into him seriously until I saw him on eba with something like a 99.7% positive rate. There is one guy who had a 95% positive, but that was on a few thousand so there were...
Well, I ended up buying a barebones machine from a guy who sells low-end stuff on ebay, but with a better mobo and XP2600+ chip and a cheap case. I have not had a great experience.. I had upgraded at the last minute to the MSI K7N2 Delta-L NForce2 chipset board, and it turns out to be incredibly...
I could order from Newegg and put it together myself, but I think you forgot a case :-). Anyway, I've discovered that there are some good deals on systems on ebay. XP2400 systems have been going for $150 plus $22 shipping (memory and diskette drive not included). Another guy has an XP2600 system...
I need to upgrade my son's machine (I bought him the force feedback steering wheel at Amazon and Nascar 2003 is running like sh*t), and seeing as how it is still Baby AT form factor, I suspect it's time for a new case (even though I really like the mega-case it's in now). I have an 80gb drive in...
I've never seen Staples do a price adjustment as anything other than a return and rebuy at the lower price. That said, they can definitely refuse to let you rebuy it, I'd be willing to bet there is wording saying something to the effect of previous purchases not qualifying.
Are you sure? I did not think that Staples has been printing rebate forms at the register for that long. Extra receipts has always been done. Now it's done automatically.
That sounds like what I got, and I got a Verbatim. I don't really see what the difference is, unless you're really intent on trying to upgrade it to 48x.

I checked out my local OM tonight. They brought out one box for me, and it had a 12 digit serial number, starting with 26. I assume this means they definitely have the Lite-On version, and that is a "good thing", right? The manager said he'd take the $15 Staples coupon, even.

For those of us who don't have time to read the reviews at the moment, can someone perhaps give an "executive summary" of which manufacturer to try to get first, second, third, avoid?

The initial post has this info: compgeeks.com. www.compgeeks.com if you need it spelled out more clearly.
In any event, it's sold out there (at least it was when I looked earlier today). I did see that CompUSA was auctioning off a bunch of these on ebay closing last night, but they all went for...
Well, it seems to be sold out again. But I have someone at another omline store willing to sell me one for $664 delivered, plus $80 for a 3 year on-site warranty if I want it. While I was kicking myself for not buying this last week (especially when the 10% off coupon was still valid), at $650 I...
