Dell Inspiron 16 Temps

I recently bought a new Dell Inspiron 16" with an i5 1334u/Iris graphics thinking it would run cool and quiet considering the 1334u is a 15W part, however it idles at around 50'C with the fan always making its presence known. Running CPU-Z's benchmark, the P-cores hit 90'C within a few seconds...

Ryzen 3600 upgrade issues.

I managed to sort the issue by removing one of my RAM sticks, getting it to POST, and then trying different RAM slots until I could get it to POST with both sticks installed. It was a fairly tedious process, but I got it to work in the end with everything set to default in BIOS.

phenom 2 x4 940 heat problem on 780g mobo

Phenom X4 940 Temps & Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-US2H

It sounds like either the heatsink is incorrectly installed, or Cool n Quiet is not running. Core Temp should report a clock speed of 800MHz at idle. If this isn't the case, check your Power profile is set to 'Power Saver' in Windows.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 2.7GHz

I was considering upgrading to this from my current 5600+ @ 3.1GHz, but I'm struggling to justify upgrading to a lower clocked X2 that somehow consumes more power, despite being fabbed on a smaller process. With Phenom II just around the corner, I think I'll abstain.

Probably never. The problem with always being atleast one manufacturing process generation behind is that they can never hit the clock speeds necessary to match or exceed Intel, certainly at acceptable TDP. When Deneb is released, AMD should have a chip that performs nearly as well as Penryn...
