When will Core i7 CPUs and Motherboards drop in price?

I'm not to familiar with the site, but vgchartz is claiming i5 has been pushed back to Q4. Anandtech has an older article listing availability in the 2nd half of the yer. It seems that with both AMD and the economy performing poorly there is little reason for Intel to hurry.

When will Core i7 CPUs and Motherboards drop in price?

My take on Intel's marketing and roadmap is that i7 will not drop all that much. Core i5 is to be the moderately priced i7.

Flash drive instead of hard drive?

You can find CF to IDE converters pretty easily. Using a CF card for the main drive is not unusual for mini-itx systems.

Whats the slowest computer you've still got in everyday use?

Drobo alternatives

I was looking at the drobo for a while but ended up spending a little more for the HP EX470 (which runs WHS) and have been very happy with it. In addition to everything mentioned above I like that WHS stores everything on mostly normal NTFS partitions. If the drobo (or a RAID NAS) fails...

PSU warm while off

I plugged my workstation into a kill-a-watt and found that it consumes 6 watts when 'off'; this might be enough for the power supply to feel warm. I think some motherboards draw various amounts of power when off for things like alarm and LAN based power-on features.

Power supply for multiple external devices?

I must have about a dozen low wattage wall warts or power bricks under my desk. I know a lot of them are 12v, probably a few other standard voltages. It seems like it would be possible to replace all or most of them with a single power supply. This would reduce a bit of clutter and probably...

Well you are describing the exact MO of the virus. RPC/svchost.exe has been hosed. Cut, paste and many other apps (window's update maybe?) no longer function. Get the update directly from microsoft.com - save it locally and run it. Run the cleaner again and reboot.
