New computer setup... Slave? master? Differences?

Hmmm...with some of the newer mobo's with built in RAID, you could use the RAID controller section to hook up the HD's, then put the CDRW, DVD/CDR each to their own channels/cables, one could I suppose, right? Well, I don't do much copying anyways...on the fly or otherwise, but I do burn CD's...

77Hz vs 87Hz - Much visual difference?

Whoa! Slow down for a bit there guys! Just because you can SELECT 100 HZ or 120 HZ refresh rates in your options (whichever way it can be done, that is many actually), doesn't mean you should! Alot of the options just show what your video card supports...and can be selected regardless of what...

Pentium 4 3.6 Ghz @ Tomshardware

It's too bad he didn't chuck in a couple of benchmarks that included the Radeon 9700 pro, but instead he stuck to that OLD NEWS Ti4600...:P Would have loved to see what the 3Dmark would have been then, plus some of the other gaming benchmarks...but I know he had to keep it even across the board.

OEM or Retail Ati 9700 Pro ???

Okay, of course meaning OEM as being a 3rd party manufacturer of Radeon 9700's I assume, and not as the common definition of OEM as meaning "less or no warranty, no box, no name, etc", like an OEM CD drive. Correct? I don't even think there are those kinds of cards out there...so I imagine...

Anyone have good experiences with the 9700 yet?

Ummm let me butt in here again... I don't think he was making statements about the rest of you guys with kids, I read it he was having some trouble on that front himself...sounds like he needs the money for upgrades and had to buy diapers instead...sounds like he was young and didn't accumulate...

Well alot of you seem to have Ti4600 cards out there. I'll make it easy for you, you have already spent alot of money fairly recently, I mean, these cards are not really that old are they? Anyhow they are enough for all of today's games, provided the right CPU is used, (fast enough). Now...

Ummm...I have the HD as Primary Master, the DVD as secondary Slave, and CDRW as secondary Master, and I can burn on the fly just fine...??? At least it's working for me, unless I'm missing something...have Lite-on 16x DVD and Lite-on 40x burner...

P4S8X Question

Okay were getting there...:-) 1. Would it not just take a BIOS upgrade to support DDR400 officially? 2. Again, would it not just take a BIOS upgrade to lock the agp/pci...or is this something you have to do with jumpers? I'm sorry I don't know much about OC'ing, but I'm thinking of buying...

AGP 8X + Radeon 9700 Works Great!!!

Hiya Moortorks (sp?)...:-) I am actually planning on getting the same exact setup you have, same memory, everything. I was initially turned off the PC3200 since I heard the new SiS 648's don't really support it officially, and it could have issues. I wanted to ask, how are you running that...

Reports of Radeon 9700 Pro not working in AGP 8X mobos!!

Rick, so it seems the ASUS is most likely the best solution for the time being, at least among the new 8x AGP boards out there. That's the one I wanted anyways, and from what you say, it seems the Mobo is at fault mainly, not so much ATI's problem, at least where there are problems reported...

Reports of Radeon 9700 Pro not working in AGP 8X mobos!!

Well that's a real bummer to hear, I was just going to place an order for both the ASUS SiS 648 (chipset) motherboard, and the ATI 9700... Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is a problem with ALL AGP 8x MB's, no matter what the chipset? Also, is this a problem fixable via a BIOS upgrade on the...

Is Mushkin PC2700 CAS 2:2:2 worth the extra $50 for 512MB?

So you can run a PC3200 chip in MB that would run unstably with it normally, by "underclocking", it to say, PC2700, and it would be stable, all the time everytime? Would this be a true statement where the SiS 648 boards are concerned? How would you do this...select DDR333 mode in BIOS...

Yeah well good luck getting Genuine Samsung, at least here in Canada. It's all Samsung chips though, but OEM PCB!

Ummm DDR400 isn't supported officially...I'd hesitate to run it in any board unless you know what your doing. Actually maybe I'm getting confused here...damn overclockers (JK) they are always saying get PC3200, blah blah, but do you really NEED it? I mean if your not going to overclock, what...

goodbye radeon 9700!!!!!!!!!!!

Well though that's all fine but who would buy a Ti4600 now, it's not worth it. Only thing NVidia has going for it is the Ti4200 which are relatively cheap and fast. Although the ATI 8500's are now just as fast with the new drivers. Price wise, I'm not up with the latter two cards. Just my...
