Why ditching 640MB?

My guess would be the 50% more SP's compared to the 9600GT.. though that that only helps in some circumstances...

Is xbit labs run by fanboys?

I'm fairly sure that Xbit labs is based out of Russia, some of the translations from Russian to English aren't particularly elegant at best. Gotta read over things two or three times before you get that "ah ha!" moment..

nope, XP Sp2.. C2D X6800 @ 2.93, 4gig of RAM @ DDR800, default high settings, nothing particularly fancy.

Uhh no? For a GTX, they're claiming 35.7 and 26.2 fps at 16x12 and 20x15, with 4xAA, I'm getting 25-28 with no AA.. 4xAA will put the average framerate in the high teens, pulling maybe the occasional low-20's, at best. So, yea.. I still think those numbers are somewhat optimistic. And...

19x12, x16AF, high on 8800U runs nicely for me, hovers around 25-28 most of the time.. only time it really drops is when it's saving, and then it's only for a split second. And I also think those numbers are a bit on the high side.. unless they benchmarked while looking at the ground the...

9800 GTX Reviews Thread

I imagine it would help, but the near 50% bandwidth advantage of the Ultra will still make a significant difference. I've also noticed that G92 has 16 ROPs, compared to 24 in the full blown G80, but virtually none of the reviews have picked up on this. Is it that insignificant, or could this...

I wouldn't call 10.9% 'much faster', maybe 'almost noticeably faster'... and those results has nothing to do with gaming, nor 4GB of RAM.

probably, but it does what i need it to do.. so i'm not too worried right now :) edit - and your Q6600 is running a good 0.5 ghz faster than my X6800, and has the benefit of two more cores :)

how'd you figure more bandwidth? New GTS:- 1940MHz @ 256 bit = 60.625GB/sec Stock Ultra:- 2160MHz @ 384 bit = 101.25GB/sec last time I checked, 101 > 60..

Sure it does. Linky (yea yea, i know it's Tom's.. so sue me). Check out the Crysis numbers, the GTX delivers an absolute bitch-slapping at 16x12 w/AA.
