CPU Fan not always on

I built a system for a friend with the same mobo coupled with a E4500. At idle, I noticed the same thing. It's because the CPU run UNDER the temp threshold. No harm here. When heat comes up, the fan starts. It bugged me though. I installed the last version of EasyTune Pro from Gigabyte and...

My first OC attempt: E6600 stuck at around 3.2 GHz

You might want to try to put MCH/FSB on default because the DS3 OC automaticly. Also put multiplier on 8 instead of 9 and run your system @ FSB 400 with memtest to see if your memory is doing fine. If all goes well, increase FSB from 400 up to, let's say, 410-415-420-425 with maybe...

Gigabyte S3 North Bridge HOT!!!!!!!!!!!

I need 1.5 to run at 3400 MHz and 1.456 to run at 3312 MHz. Tested with Orthos Small, Large and Blend > 8 hours each. So u got a better chip buddy.

E6300 Overclocking Temps with Zalman CNPS9500

I get coretemp 64°C with Orthos Small ffts @ 3400 mHz 1.5v. I can reach 3.456 mHz but it needs 1.55v and goes to 67-68 °C. All speeds are Orthos stable >8 hours with both small and blend tests. Amb. temp is around 20°C with a CNPS9500 of course. There are multiple opinions about the...

E6400 seems stable at 3.2 but need some tweaking help

Orthos Prime 95 'blend test' will be a good stress for your modified memory timings. In my case this test is more sensitive than memtest booted from the CD. YMMV.

Anyone using Mushkin memory(EM2-6400)

I noticed that my system is much more sensitive to Orthos Blend test than memtest. Accord99, you might want to try Orthos Blend for some hours and let us know how it goes.

Anyone using Mushkin memory(EM2-6400)

JKatCL, just saw your post. I have a stable system (12h+ Orthos all test + Memtest) with my Mushkin EM 6400 at SPD timings (5-5-5-15) 1,9 v @ 400 1:1 3200 MHz. I can run memtest with more aggressive timings like 4-5-4-12 2.0 or 2.1 but eventually fail Orthos Blend. Hope that helps.

E6300 @ 46C,... is that too hot?

I agree with you. I reach 60-62 on load with Orthos while monitoring with Coretemp. Idle is : Core #1 = 51; Core #2 : = 46

Change your memory timings to 5-5-5-12 and increase vdimm 2.1

Please help build my new C2D system!

Good suggestions. On a cheaper side, I suggest the Fortron Blue Storm 500W PSU and the Antec slk3000b Case. Cheaper components doing a great job for me.
