x800xl to ?????

I currently have a x800xl and am looking to upgrade on the cheap. I am looking to play games like crysis and cod4 on medium @ 1280x1024. I though about the 7900gt or x1950 pro. current setup amd x2 3800+ S939 2GB ddr 80GB hd x800xl 450w OCZ PSU 12v @ 26A 2 dvd rw

Long term problem with booting up

I would also suggest its a PSU problem. You could buy a PSU tester or take it to a local shop and have them test the PSU.

Removing windows from secondary hard drive

Make sure there is not a floppy in the a: drive, if you have one. That happens alot

HELP! computer is not entering windowsxp

To get into Safe mode, hit F8 repeateldy before the Windows Logo screen. I think you have a problem with one of the automatic startup items. So, when in safe mode, to go start>run>type msconfig and click on the startup tab. Uncheck everything from that list and restart normally. If it works you...

Hard drive constantly swapping during gaming

What is the size of your paging file? Start>right click my computer>properties>advanced>under performance click settings>advanced tab>under virutal memory it shoud tell you what your current is, and it lets you increase it. The recommended is 1.5xamout of ram installed. Try that and see.

Can't boot off PATA HDD

Have you tried a different IDE cable? "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER" That means there is no OS on the HD.

computer won't boot/beep

Try re-setting CMOS (either a jumper, reset button, or remove the battery). If the reset doesnt work, the motherboard is shot. i have had that happen to me with 3 MSI boards (dont buy MSI!!!)

Computer Continuously Restarts at Desktop

When you installed the new video card drivers did you uninstall the previous ones? Since it runs in Safe mode perfectly(which uses very basic video drivers) my impression is that the video card drivers are conflicting with each other.

PC randomly shut down & won't start up again

unplug everything except for the CPU, RAM and see what happens. Also do you have another maching that you could try that RAM in? Or do you have any spare RAM lying around to test in your machine?

Computer freezes occasionally on startup
