ECS K7S5A experience

I have only good experience with ECS K7S5A(L) mobos. I´ve built 5 or 6 PC already based upon this board (the price is just unbelieveable) with various CPUs and RAM - from Athlon 900 and SDR to XP 1700+ and DDR. Everything is running without any problem, the oldest one for more than seven months...

temperature of a PIII KATMAI 550 Mhz proc.

BTW I´ve read in a price list of one distribution company that they´re selling K7N420 with RAID onboard... I think this is actually a mistake, as the RAID controller isn´t even mentioned as an optional feature on MSI´s website and there´s also no silkscreen space on the mobo itself. Anything...

It´ll work just fine, as any other memory stick with Micron chips. The problem is just that the manufacturer (nVidia) can´t just test all of components which are available on the market.

Poll: Did you ever broke something on your board?

I have a good one... Long time ago, memory clip just fell off from Octek VP3 mobo when I was messing around it. Last week, my friend ripped off the whole SIMM memory slot from that exact board :D

RMA gone bad with ABIT. I sent for repair over a month ago and its still not back!

Another sad RMA story. I´ve RMAd an AMD T-Bird 900MHz CPU on October 5th. Haven´t heard anything about it since. :(

ZX Chipset: Any good for a stable, low-end system??

MSI K7T 266 Pro2 is a great motherboard, but as well as others listed it won´t deliver the same quality as the SB Live! soundcard, they simply have only stereo speakers output. ECS K7S5AL is a good choice, I already had 4 or 5 of them in my hands - good performance and stability, no serious...

Iwill XP333 or Abit KG-7

Forget about Iwill XP333 (ALi chipset) if you´re going to build a powerful PC. KG7 is really good, but KR7 is even better :)

Athlon XP vs. Athlon T-bird

XP should be up to 10% faster than T-bird thanks to the hardware data prefetch. SSE is supported and it´s definitely useful.
