No i'm not ;) I already have the HDs, case and PSU, as well as a Gig of RAM that might be reused. I'm building a quiet system, doing that with a prebuilt is a pain in the neck. I'm building one that's going to be overclocked, again doing that with prebuilt can be a pain in the neck...

using LCD HD TV w/PC

You'll be able to use the monitor at it's full resolution (as far as i know) but the DVD itself is only going to be the standard low resolution stuff. If you had HD DVD or BluRay then you'd be able to watch the films at 1080P (assuming you've got HDCP compliant OS and hardware, or that HDCP...

Most Quiet Case??

The P180 is not the quietest case, it's a good mixture between noise and cooling. If you want quiet then look at the P150 or the Antec 900. The best way to quiet a computer is to use quiet components, only serrious modding can make a maxtor III serries HD quiet, but suspension alone is enough...

Rate My Build

Clarification: The corsair will let him overclock, but it's not the best out there for it. If you're not overclocking then don't waste your money on DDR2 800, just get 533 and be happy.

Done researching, ready to buy (I think)

Spend more on the monitor, the daddy of the 20" range is the NEC GXW or something like that. Pop over to the video forum for the real model number but the short version is that it's great.

SATA II Problem!

It's not spinning up? That's not normal (and the award for stating the obvious), as is the refusal to boot. You haven't done something silly like plug in two power cables? (Some drives have legacy power connections as well as the SATA standard). Try booting with the seagate once that works...

Done researching, ready to buy (I think)

I have a raptor and i've got to join intrinsicvalue on wondering if it's really worth it. Knocks a bit off your media transcoding times, a bit off your BF2 load times, but are those seconds worth the extra $100 you're paying rather than getting a normal 7200 drive? Should get you nudging the GTX...

SATA II Problem!

Someone was telling you porkies, the 650i chipset is very recent and supports SATA II. Is it plugged in (you'd be amazed just how often this is the problem)? Does the drive spin up? Have you got another drive to test it with?

PC4200 or PC3200

Possibly, PC4200 sounds like DDR that's rated to run at 525mhz rather than 400mhz for the PC 3200. If so then you can use a stick (or two sticks) of each in a computer, but it'll only operate at the speed of the slower sticks, ie the 3200.

New graphics cards - do you do 'anything' to them in the first few months?

I wait somewhere between a few days and a week, then off goes the stock cooling and on goes the overclock.
