motherboard vs cpu which is dead?

If you get the memory beep then I would lean toward believing your CPU may be fried. I'm definitely not an expert but if I were troubleshooting and got the ram post beep, I would lean that way. Maybe you can find a cheap p4 chip to try out? Do you have any used pc stores aound? Sometimes...

AGP Recommendation

Hmm, thanks for the heads up. That did peak my interest but after reading up on it I think I will stick with the 9800. I almost feel like I won't be impressed by any upgrade that I am able to get for under $100. I don't game that much so waiting until I can move to PCI-E is probably my best bet.

AGP Recommendation

I need a recommendation for a decent AGP card to upgrade my 9800pro Here is my setup: Sempron64 3100+ (OC@ 2.3) 2gb Corsair XMS Xtasy 9800Pro 128mb (OC@ 428, 348) I don't know if there is a decent upgrade to be had for under $100 that will beat the 9800. I haven't been paying attention...

Dangit, they have 'em here I tell ya. :) They actually had 3 of the 19.99 ones left. Maybe it's just at that store because they aren't selling there. It is in a booty neighborhood so maybe that's it. Hope someone else has some luck finding these things.

Internet in Hawaii

Well I sold something to a guy over there and his email was @hawaii.rr.com. That would tell me that they have Roadrunner broadband. At some point it would have to be sattelite but that would probably be one of your best bets since it is a reliable ISP here on the mainland. :) HTH -Bo-

Amd 2400+ basic overheating problem? no O/C, no modification

I would definitely say you are running too hot. I had the same retail setup and probably ran at about 40C at idle. Something you may want to try is getting a tube of Arctic Silver 5 and reapplying it to the heatsink. The stock heatsink compound isn't very good. SVC always has a good deal on...

Best XP combo under $100
